South Carolina's d reminded me of msu 2007
Watching Texas A $ M score at will
Against the cocks reminded me of the 2007 msu defense. The front 7 never got home and the DBS all got shredded. Losing guys like clowney really hurt tcocks. Their defensive tackle and defensive ends could never get pressure on the A $ M quarterback. All of the blitz packages failed. Poor tackling in the flat resulted in extended drives. Let's hope our front seven is able to get home this year. I do have my concerns. Well need to put pressure on the Oregon qb. Without it he'll pick us apart.

How spurrier keeps his job after that game, I'll never know. South Carolina was being picked to win the sec this year

If they beat Georgia in 2 weeks, they'll be back in the driver's seat.
Neither SC or UGA play Alabama or LSU. Both play Auburn.
Most people picked Bama to win the SEC. Big shocker, I know.

Tanner nailed it. I was having flashbacks to that jls defense. The am corners never turned around either. So glad we are who we are today

Remember 2009? Wheel Route? That D got owned too and often. Once again it was the front 7 who couldn't get home to put the pressure on the qb. Oregon will shred us if we can't get home or disrupt their qb.

All the missed tackles in the open field. Abysmal.

You don't think we are going to get home? That would be the first time since that lovely TT bowl game

JLS was not the coach in 2007.

You saw what they looked like last night, They aren't winning shit this season.
While it is impressive that he's won 11 games back to back to back, Spurrier hasn't been to a BCS game his entire 10 year career in Columbia and they aren't going this year either. He's won the east division once during that time and he's still revered as one of the game's best coaches.
Maybe I overstated how much heat he's going to feel after getting dickslapped but maybe it brings him a little further down to earth? I just think giving up that kind of yardage and point total after gearing up all off season for that game is a god damn joke.

That game serves as a wake up call for what a top 10 pre-season ranking means.

What are we worried about with our front 7?
Quick question here, that will probably be glossed over. What if I just enjoy watching MSU play, and I have too many other priorities in my life to get too worked up over preseason possibilities? Is there only DE and SB, or can there also be RF (rational fan)?

Remember when the 2009 d was going to be so good? We have a new nose tackle and our linebackers are not bullough or Allen. So. I have concerns. No one is freaking out. Just posting my concerns.

Sucks we don't have an easy run up to get those guys experience. Bullough is going to be starting in the NFL, Darquez would be if not for being slowed by injury. Both were not only great at their position but vocal and called things out. You don't lose two NFL starters and not take a step back. That would be shocking if we were as good as the defense last year. We'll definitely take a step back and it's going to show tonight, and next week. But I still like our defense more then any defense in the league. So everything is relative.

Was that effective last season? Hate to mess up karma. It was last season, right?
I mean, he's been banned so many times it's hard to keep track.

Dude, have you seen SC's records prior to Spurrier? They were winless in 1999 with Holtz at the helm, and have zero history in any facet.
Spurrier has taken them to unprecedented levels of success (for them), and while he hasn't won the big one, he's consistently beating Clemson, and recording double digit wins as of late. I live an hour from Columbia, and most of the blame is going on the DC, Lorenzo Ward, and the recruits who didn't qualify academically, which were numerous. The blame isn't going on Spurrier for recruiting these kids, but on the actual kids themselves. While i think it's outrageous that Spurrier gets off without any criticism, that's how it is in Cola.
