Why do these conferences get pre season love? Since 1989 the bottom 10 teams in pre season vs final AP rankings are littered with both conferences. 7 out of the 10 teams are ACC/Big 12 freeloaders. Led by Texas (-110), Nebraska (-88.5), OK (-87.5), ND* (-78.5), FSU (-76), Miami (-61), Clemson (-50).

Now I included Nebraska as a Big 12 team since they joined the B1G in 2011. Ironically since bringing their preseason love to the B1G they have proceeded to rack up 1/2 their -88.5 points in the three years since joining the supposedly horrible B1G (interesting). Now more than ever the preseason rankings seem to matter. Starting higher up the ladder helps. Also I think it should be considered that the final AP rankings are after bowl games in which the B1G tends to be over bowled. ND included as an ACC team probably isn't fair and noted with an asterisk, but its worth noting that the ACC now gets another pre season entitlement baby. Also worth noting that since 2002, 5 of these 7 schools have finished in the top 10 in rivals recruiting rankings (Tex, OK, ND, FSU, Miami).

And just for Bobby Sak, his favorite school is the lone B1G rep in the" under achiever final product matrix" while also appearing in the "best parts to work with" matrix......

So in short (to late), screw the thought that the ACC and/or Big 12 champ will be in the four team playoff with a loss.
