They reportedly didn't want him to injure himself. How the fuck do you not let him at least try out? Besides, from what I heard today from the various news outlets, he doesn't need the money, he was just offering to help the team out. If true, it seems like a pretty shitty way for the Lions to have handled it.

Exactly, what does he have to worry about? He's all set in life. It was just a helping hand. And we all know, the lions need everything they can get.

I have to believe there's more to it like player union rules, compensation etc. Yeah players have come out of retirement but I believe there are rules that need be followed. Hanson offered to help; not fully come out of retirement & sign a contract ......... of course then there's the Parker issue if true.
