How can Chevy pay that Little League girl pitcher?
And she doesn't lose her college eligibility?
Because it's a good story?

I would think it is prudent to take the money now (which could easily be more than what a college education costs), rather than turn it down because she MIGHT get offered a college scholarship 6 years from now.
Besides what is she losing college eligibility for? They don't have women's college baseball. Remember you can play professional baseball and still have college eligibility for football, basketball, etc.

No doubt they are paying enough to cover college. What was the realistic value of playing in college for her? There was that one hot softball player that played in Arizona about 10 years ago, she did well. But aside from that, is the commercial paying her more now than her earning potential from the sport?
That's assuming it does burn up her college eligibility. Which I don't really know for sure.

Woody Paige (although normally a moron) said eligibility issues only come up in HS and she's in 8th grade so it wouldn't matter

But, I think part of the commercial shows her playing basketball.
Can Joe's Crab Shack run ads with Jameis Winston right now playing baseball (if he decided not to play baseball in the spring)?

I don't know how endorsements fit into that, but it is probably irrelevant. And they're making the smart move anyway (unless they have no/poor representation and GM is paying her practically nothing).

I realize introducing facts around here is not the norm....
and second, she has a name, Mo'ne Davis. Third, her dream is to play basketball at UCONN, not to play baseball. Fourth, here is an article detailing the NCAA's ruling: http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/college/2014/10/22/mone-davis-ncaa-amateur-status-eligibility-chevrolet-commercial-uconn-huskies-llws/17702519/
Finally, haven't some male athletes been actual professional players in a sport other than what they play or played in college? Russell Wilson is a prime example. Around this board, the phrase, "You can't cure stupid" surely applies!

Is your argument that she is now a paid professional baseball player?
Will that exclude her from playing amateur baseball any more?

Was going to post this.
Regardless, fuck tNCAA, they should butt out and fuck off. If Chevy wants to pay a little girl for an endorsement, why the fuck should the NCAA get involved? People who get up in arms about shit like this should be electroshocked until they are either reasonable or dead.
