Pellini wins 9 games a year.
If Nebraska thought they were going to hire Tom Osborne 2.0 they are misguided.

How would we feel if Coach D lost 4 games every year for the next 8 years?

Not sure. One of the most unreal stats I have ever heard is Pelini has lost 4 games EVERY YEAR. This day and age of watered down schedules, that is not good. Losing 4 games every year means you are an average to slightly above average coach, and that doesn't work at a place like Nebraska. He was never going to win a conference title. 0-3 in champ games.

They really think too highly of themselves. Solich never finished below .500, had 12, 11, and 10 win seasons in his six years as head coach, and was 9-3 the year they fired him. They have a UM thing going where they cling to the legacy of a legend and hitch everything to success that took place more than a decade ago.

Re: Pelini Fired...
How many teams are expected to win the national championship every year? Here is his time at Nebraska 9-4 (2008), 10-4, 10-4, 9-4, 10-4, 9-4 and 9-4 so far this year. The guy has won 70% of his games! He won his division 4 of 8 years and has always had a winning conference record. Fanbases have gotten ridiculous in that you run a guy out with PROVEN sustained success.

That's true, and a bowl loss this year would have meant another 4 loss season. It is a crazy stat. Every year he lost exactly four games. But that also means he always won 9-10 games. But in the end, winning 9-10 every year is not enough at Nebraska.

Why not? Osborne had plenty of 9-3 seasons early in his time at Nebraska. Plus he doesn't get the benefit of playing Iowa State and Kansas every year.

More
"Pelini improved to 67-27 as Nebraska's coach on Friday with a 37-34 overtime win at Iowa. The victory pushed Pelini's win total past Tom Osborne for the most ever at the school in a coach's first seven years.
In fact, no coach in the history of a Power 5 program had been fired for on-field performance after winning as many games in his first seven years. Only Alabama and Oregon -- first and second this week in the College Football Playoff rankings -- can match the Huskers in winning nine games each year since 2008."

Seems there's some SCum level delusion in Nebraska. New coach must have HC experience, so Frost at OC and Muschamp at DC.

Apt comparison, although I don't think their fan base is nearly as delusional as UM's. That said, I think a lot of Nebraska fans still look back on their days in the old Big Eight where the only challenging games each year were vs Oklahoma and the odd out-of-conference heavyweight they might schedule.

You don't fire a guy now, unless you have a plan.
Maybe they could hire Paul Johnson at GT and run his high school offense.

I'm not surprised by this. I think this article more or less indicates the thoughts there. The article was written on Friday and then updated after Pelini was fired.

The difference is that UN's legacy was 10x's the legacy of Bo. Osbourne won multiply NC's and those teams in the mid 90's were some of the best college teams I ever saw to this day. UM's legacy won a bunch a games against inferior opponents, but when they played someone actually decent they got their balls cut off and shoved up their ass so far that they spit them out their ****ing mouths.

It doesn't really matter. The larger point is that neither program can break from the past. Maybe because UN has a stronger legacy it will be harder for them to move forward, but generally speaking they both have the same problem.
To be honest, our perceptions or the objective reality does not matter nearly as much as perception of self. UM would disagree with your contention that the UN Legacy is stronger.

Re: Pelini Fired...
And then there's this idiot:
Surprise firing of Pelini good for the Big Ten
Those things show up in the recruiting rankings, where Ohio State was the only Big Ten program to have a Rivals.com Top 20 signing class last February, and only three Big Ten schools were in the Top 30 (the Buckeyes, Michigan State and Penn State).
The league has fallen behind, which is why there is a very real chance it will be the one Power Five conference left out of the first College Football Playoff. It needs more than just one or two programs daring to be great; it needs an SEC-like glut of them.
In Delany’s grand expansion plan, Nebraska was to be part of that glut. Whereas Rutgers and Maryland were added to the conference this year for demographics and profiteering, the addition of the Cornhuskers in 2011 was designed to specifically boost the Big Ten’s football power.
It hasn’t happened.

I seriously think they're going to get Tressel. He's the odds-on favorite to land the job, and someone I know that's close to Tressel told me that the only two jobs he'd consider leaving retirement for are PSU and Nebraska, and that he was disappointed a year ago to not get the call for the PSU job.
Hope I'm wrong, because he'd really screw up our Ohio recruiting.

Re: Pelini Fired...
I predict they'll take the Tennessee route.. UT got rid of Phil Fulmer at the end of the '08 season because they went 5-7.. and the previous 5 years they had won a total 44 games.. basically 9 games a year, like Pelini.
UT has struggled to be relevant since. Big time college football is all about "what have you done for me lately" - hell, at the beginning of last season, MSU fans were booing it's own coaches/players.
Nebraska, as with a lot of schools, better be careful of what they wish for.
