Lots of Texas Spartans. Hoping for a good showing. Wish I could go, would give me a good excuse to go see Girbaud's new crib but I can't justify ditching out on the wife and kids during Christmas vacation. Though I'm sure by about day 3 I'll wish I had.

I think the related question is - how many tickets are allocated to each school (that they are obligated to purchase)InTenSity wrote:This game will be lucky to have 5k MSU fans there.
I haven't heard if the band is going, should hear from family friends tonite or tomorrow (as their daughter - no pics - is in the SMB)

How many Texas recruits do we have? How many alum are in Florida over Texas? I'm serious. I expect the stadium to be 90% Baylor.

I read somewhere we get 13,000 tickets to sell. I think they'll sell out fairly quickly.

That's cool. They'll still be begging people to buy tickets a week before the game starts. Everyone blew their wad last year. 1/2 the people were ready to come to FL, who the fuck wants to go to Dallas on Jan. 1. The requests to go to this game will be minimal. We don't travel well and MSU really doesn't travel well outside of FL bowl games.

Cap 1 bowl against UGA was a good game. I showed up and from the online talk there were going to be tons of Spartans there. Newp, not so. UGA invaded that stadium and MSU was excited to be there, and the fans were to. This year is a disappointment, according to online chatter, and they are playing TX. No way they sell out the 13k tickets, plus it'll be cheaper to buy on the street.
Why didn't ESPN question Long? Is ESPN the only media that's allowed to ask any questions after the results are out? That's fucking BS? There should be a room of reporters and a 30 minutes Q&A after the final rankings. I'm just pissed that we got jumped for no reason, other than SEC.

I went to Champs, both Cap 1's, both B1GCG's, and the Rose Bowl. Our turnouts were fine. Just because we don't bring as many people as SEC teams that can make a day trip to the game doesn't mean we "don't travel well". We travel just fine and there are plenty of Spartans in Texas.

Re: Cotton bowl tix thread
I think InTen is right that a lot of people blew their wad last year on the RB trip. Maybe I'm just speaking about my own personal experience.
I am a total asshole for going to California by myself for a 4-5 day trip last year over the Holidays and leaving my wife at home with a 1 year old a 4 year old. Guilty. But luckily my wife is pretty awesome and knows how much that meant to me and was super happy for me (at least she was once I told her I could get the airline ticket for free on Delta points and not spend $1300 on it).
I can't do it this year. I just can't. She wouldn't bat an eye but it would be a shitty thing to do.
I bet a lot of people have somewhat similar situations.

For those that are going, try to check this place out.
Meddlesome Moth is a place I visited every night when I had to go to Dallas on business.

I'm thinking of doing what I did for the Rose Bowl...fly out in the morning, go to the game, fly back in the evening.

Flights will be cheap. Where is this played? I think a cab from the airport to downtown runs around $60-80. I'd buy a ticket after you land.

Flights won't be cheap as MIA & DFW are both AA hubs. Just checked - $467. I can use miles, get tix thru MSU and Uber to/from the game.

This flies in NYE and leaves NYD. Not sure what you were planning. $299 round trip.

Cotton Bowl is going to be a bargin. Flights to Mich from Fla are going to be high regardless of bowl destination. Flights to Dallas were $275 when the game was announced. They are now $380 but I would bet WBH's horse they come down again. Tickets will be easy to get and I'm guessing hotels are wayyyyy cheaper than South Beach. Jerry World + a pretty sweet Baylor intrigues me more than Gtech/Orange Bowl. But my crew is tapped from Pasadena and Eugene... I might just solo it.

Flying in the day of might work, but I wouldn't fly out the same day. There was shit for other games on last NYD. NYE and NYD are finally must see for bowl games again. Worth an overnight stay IMO.
