packers fumble - wtf kind of rule is that?
Rodgers gets striped inside the five
No one knows where the ball is, just sitting a few yards back in the endzone
Lacy finally sees it, runs back, picks up ball and starts to run out the endzone
Reef blows whistle
Calls play dead and a safety
Says under two minutes left, a fumble is ruled dead if it's not picked up by the player that fumbled... what? Who cares?

Packers were hosed the whole game. That call, however, was absolutely correct. Rodgers second interception when they were going into score was probably the biggest interference I've ever seen. Ever.
Not worried, they're still going to the super bowl

It was the right call. No wonder the line was only 3. Vegas baby

I don't care that it was the correct call by the rule. In that instance, there's no reason lacy shouldn't be able to pick up the ball and run with it

Actually, I don't like that the offense can advance a fumble at all...CORNER BLITZ wrote:I don't care that it was the correct call by the rule. In that instance, there's no reason lacy shouldn't be able to pick up the ball and run with it
But, and this is the problem with football, the rules need to be consistent for fucks sake. It shouldn't matter if it's inside of two minutes, or in the end zone or at the sideline or whatever. If they can advance a fumble at the fifty, they should be able to there too. Or they shouldn't be able to at all.
And don't get me started on the clock rules. Goddamn those are dumb as shit in football.

The rule is meant to prevent someone from "accidentally" trying to fumble the ball forward if they are stopped short of a 1st down/TD hoping one of their teammates will recover..

It was fumbled backwards and sitting dead on the ground

That it's stupid to not be able to move the ball in the last two minutes, yes

It's a good rule IMO. Imagine an offensive player purposefully fumbling a ball in the last seconds of a game and it gets recovered and taken for a GW TD. The issue wasn't that lacy recovered it was that he couldn't advance it. I do wish though that the NFL allow some discretion in these types of rules.

The only thing I'm saying is that it then shouldn't be allowed the rest of the game. Changing the rules in the last 2 minutes is silly silly nonsense.By-Tor wrote:It's a good rule IMO. It's cute that you guys can't even figure out the rules to a game where the ball is in play for 11 minutes. It's like you had 100 unstable women sit down in a room for a week and decide on the rules.

Who in their right mind would use this strategy unless in a desperate situation?Travis of the Cosmos wrote:

Bullshit. The Bills have a top 5 defense. Denver and their top 5 offense looked unimpressive against the Bills defense last week. The Packers came in unprepared.

They should have arbitrarily added time at the end of the game.

Better than arbitrarily stopping the clock based on if the guy goes out of bounds (only in the last two minutes) or if the guy falls down in the field gets pushed out or if the ball is caught or dropped or waiting until the fat guy on the sideline moves that really big stick then restarting the clock once he is ready to go.Turtleneck wrote:

Nothing in sports is more senseless and arbitrary than football's rules regarding the clock.

Packers were hosed on the interception going in. Worst missed call ever. Period, end of story.

Soccer players flop worse than Wisconsin basketball. That "sport" is unwatchable.

No way. Lions will win division, and the Pack will have go on the road and play the Falcons in the first round. You can't just walk into the Dome and expect to win.

Personally, you should have mentioned the part where the ref knocked the ball out of a wide open Nelson's hands. Had the ref not knocked the ball out of Nelson's hands, he would had easily scored. There were some bad calls on Buffalo in the first half as well, and Although penalties were about even, Bills were actually called for 10/75 compared to Packers 9/70. All in all, the Packers were unprepared.
