Yes he was. He was one badass man too. We had a lot of good times on the military bases blowing stuff up, and shooting whatever guns he brought home. Crazy to think that on memorial day, it will be 10 years since his passing.

Sorry to hear. Seriously, he sounded like a real good guy. And anyone that served honorably is an American hero in my book.

Wasn't a happy ending. Been reading about the controversy and the big celeb feuds surrounding this film.
Just seemed like a routine war film, but the reaction seems extreme.

Watched it yesterday. Pretty solid movie. Some deviation from reality, but it added to the storyline. The Taibbi types need to simmer down. If they want to watch something that comments on the reasons we are in the situation we find ourselves in the Middle East watch Losing Iraq. It's a solid documentary on Netflix.

It's too late to worry about why we are there. We've been there since 1990. I should know... I was there.Watch Out Pylon! wrote:Watched it yesterday. Pretty solid movie. I didn't view it as exactly a pro war film either.
Having a little time to think about the film and reflect on it, it should be the film of the year. Definitely deserving of an oscar or two.

I forgot about the Jesse Ventura law suit and I thought Jesse was right to sue Chris Kyle over his fabricated story.
Still a good film, but would not read his book. The actual Chris Kyle seemed a little off and from the sounds of it I bet the film is more realistic than his book.

You mean a guy who brags about killing American civilians in New Orleans during Katrina (which is probably another complete fabrication) might be a little off?
Starting to notice a trend with this Chris Kyle feller....

That, and the story that he blew away two car jackers when there's no evidence that he did it.
I don't like this mob that has black listed Ventura for wanting to clear his name. Chris had a chance to clear this up and he refused. His widow was covered by insurance for the attorneys, Jesse had to cover the expenses which I'm sure wasn't cheap.

Definitely agree.
How powerful Hollywood is.... You can see the proof in this thread alone. They'll make you think exactly what they want you to think.
Also makes you wonder if all those rumors about the CIA being involved in which scripts get green lit or not since the 1950's could have some truth to them... certainly would be a guaranteed slam dunk if they wanted to use it to sway popular opinion.

This thread is a great example on how the media and politicians have divided our country. some people are going nuts over a fucking movie that was made to entertain us and make the producers money.
No one gives a fuck how you personally view war or a sniper's duties.

It is. Do you ever sit back and laugh at what gets people blood boiling nowadays? A movie made for entertainment and a few footballs being under inflated have caused millions of people to have a coronary. Its sad and pathetic. But this is the faux media driven age we live in.

this was my thought, as well - it was a decent movie but certainly nothing life changing.. if people do see this movie as something other than it is - a Hollywood attempt at unapologetic jingoism - they need to reexamine their lives...steveschneider wrote:

Its more simple then that. Eastwood's goal was to make the movie as much money as he possibly could. The jingoism is just a means to an end. The more the merrier.
Remember the movie The Hurt Locker? Almost same thing. Both solid war flicks about the second Iraq war.
Still can't hold a candle to Platoon.

I just know that my entire body was tense during The Hurt Locker - I think I lost about 3 lbs of sweat during that movie.

in a shocking turn of events, a Texas jury found the guy who killed an American hero guilty of murder..
I only wish that we could honor America and jesus by subjecting him to a form of state-sponsored premeditated murder.. instead, the limp-wristed sissy judge sentenced him to life in prison.

Justice served for Chris and the Littlefield family. To Eddie Ray Routh, you thought you had PTSD before .?? Wait till the boys in TDC Find out you killed a TX hero.
and we wonder why the country is in the shape it is.. so much hate, violence.

Someone wishes ill will towards a murderer?
That's it. Time to question society. Whats next, someone might wish Sandusky gets ass raped in prison? No, I wish that pedophiles and murderers get treated with dignity and respect.
Who are these psychos that wish to see people that kill others suffer?!?!?
