CFB Selection Committee will begin releasing rankings in late October

"It should be noted the ranking may not necessarily be the final determination for picking which four teams will be selected for the playoff. The ranking will be more of a guide as to how the committee is viewing the season’s top teams. The ultimate decision on which teams will be placed in the playoff will be done behind a closed-door meeting, just as it is in basketball."


That could create quite the shitstorm for the committee to rank their top teams for 6 weeks and then depart from the ranking in their final selections.

Yup. Imagine if we were ranked 4th and then at the last minute passed up by a bigger name like Alabama. The controversy would be way worse than it is now. I still like this model better though. Anything that gives MSU a more viable chance to compete for an NC is good with me.

So how many teams will they rank? 25? 10? 4?
