Eat before or after working out?
Lately, I've been having a problem with getting extremely nauseous during and directly after lifting. This doesn't happen when I do cardio, just lifting. I typically do it at 7 AM, before I've had breakfast. A couple times I've thrown up from nausea right after completing the work out. I was always told to eat after you workout, but if I don't eat anything, it's like I don't have the strength/nourishment to get through it. Should I eat something light right before working out? Do I have AIDS?

Have you been in a fire recently? If not, there's a small chance it's not AIDS. How can you be hungry before a workout when you're clearly all beef (and I'm sure plenty of sausage) as it is?

Also, if I eat before lifting, how much time should I allow in between?

Before and after. You are likely carb crashing. Easy something light yet with complex carbs. A bowl of oatmeal should work. Wait 15-20 minutes, then lift.

I hate oatmeal. Any good alternatives?

Drink a good protein powder in milk, bit add a 1/2 cup of quick oats. You won't even know it's there.
Also, quit being a whiny baby. To be healthy you'll have to learn to eat things you don't care for

Banana with some peanut butter or maybe some toast. Make sure you're drinking water right when you wake up.

I will if I have to, but if I've got options, why not eat what I like? Makes sense, right?

Re: Eat before or after working out?
Definitely eat a little before you work out, not a big breakfast or you will feel sluggish. Your blood sugar will be low after having not eaten all night and your muscles need sugar. I eat Quaker Quick Oats made with skim milk for breakfast. I work out during my lunch hour so I eat a piece of fruit on my way to the gym to make sure I'm GTG. I take a 20 oz nalgene container containing skim milk and pound it as soon as I'm done working out. Skim milk is a cheap source of high quality animal protein.
If you don't like quick oats, how about toast with honey or a bowl of Cheerios with skim milk?
Edit: Advice above to drink water is good advice since you will also be mildly dehydrated after having not taken in H20 all night. A banana on the Cheerios is always good too.

start out with a nutritious jenkem shake about 10 minutes before lifting. follow that up with post-workout bath salts.
