Memorial Day weekend 2015
Any big plans?
I've got nothing on tap except lunch at the VFW tomorrow and some relatives coming up for a visit.
I'm thinking we may already be seeing some effect of the lower gas prices this year. Went into Mio to have
lunch at one of the little hole in the wall joints I like and was told there was a 20 minute wait for a table. That
along with reports of crazy traffic headed up here last night tells me we may be in for a booming summer.

Speaking of gas prices. Gougers have raised it 40 cents as we've approached the weekend!

Selling apples, meeting up for drinks with an old friend that's in town for the weekend, and then probably going to my family's place on Keuka Lake.

No plans for the weekend. tWife is working on Saturday night, so my daughter and I will do something. Maybe I'll go golfing on Sunday, but nothing definite. We both have Monday off, so who knows.

Nope but go right past Jay Smith Dr. every trip. He's an asst Coach at U of D but doesn't do much recruiting up here.

Working nights messes with your schedule. Got out of bed at noon, went shopping, did laundry, grilled some brats at 4, washed car....Grilled dinner at 8ish.

spent the weekend Up North with my dazzling family.. grilling, golf, bon fires, Michelob Ultra, a gentle mix of Jack Johnson and the Dave Matthews band on high rotation.. Lucky, our golden retriever, really enjoyed his time amongst the khaki-bedazzled clan as we went for leisurely bike rides around the sun-sprinkled paradise.

Wore some cargo shorts, a NASCAR #4 shirt, trimmed the goatee and thew on some sports sunglasses. Pig out on a bunch of junk food and guzzled a 12 pack of key stone lite. Cranked the local z power rock station Def Leopard, Bon Jovi, Rush, Tom Petty and John Cougar Mellencamp. "Let it rock, let it roll, let the Bible Belt come and save my soul!"

Ugh! Why can't people do the BBQ thing on Sundays, instead of Monday? Work is not going to be fun.

good question. We hung out with some friends Sunday afternoon/evening at their place for a cook out - was nice knowing we didn't have to work the next day.InTenSity wrote:Ugh! Why can't people do the BBQ thing on Sundays, instead of Monday? Work is not going to be fun.

Re: Memorial Day weekend 2015
Replaced my deck boards on my backyard deck with composite lumber that is a bit thinner than regular wood. Found out the joists were spaced way too far apart. I had to put in four more runs of joists.
What I thought would be a day job turned into a full weekend of contraction at almost twice the price. Pain my ass, but it's done now.

How's it looking after the job is complete?

Really nice. It isn't cheap by any means. $26 per 16' lengths but it there is zero maintenance involved and lasts a lot longer than real wood.
There's a hidden fastener system that Trex offers for even more money but I stayed away from that. Having worked in the industry with CertainTeed composite lumber I know the hidden fastener system can cause issues down the road.

oddly enough, I was in HopCat on Saturday afternoon. Was exactly the third time I had been there since they redefined the concept of seasoned french fries in East Lansing.
Peanut Barrel, Dagwoods, HopCat, El Azteco and Buddies on Lake Lansing Road (met a friend for a game of pool there)
