The Pope has arrived in Quito!
Pope Francisco arrived in Quito about an hour ago. He's going to speak on Tuesday morning at 10:30 less than 1 km away from my house. People here are going nuts over this, myself included. Huge event for Ecuador.
Pic of his arrival:
Reference: My house is the blue circle and I marked where the Pope will be speaking. Pretty cool that it's within walking distance for me
Oh and keep the "F religion" comments to yourself, I don't wanna hear it

I thought this Pope mothballed the Popemobile. Apparently not.

I'll just mention Bob, his influence within the Catholic church and love for religion should be enough to get me to the front. Pope speaks at 11am but people have been lining up since last night so we figured we'd get there early.
Poll question for tSwll: should we try bringing beers into the park or no? 7 hours is a long time to wait.

Re: The Pope has arrived in Quito!
Wow, what a day. Papa Francisco drove by less than 10 feet from me and we made eye contact. Not Catholic but it was still really cool. It was also cool to see how big of a moment it was for the ecuadorians.
Once we got inside the park (aka the old airport) we were too far away to see anything in person so we watched on a giant TV. Official estimate = 1.5 million people. It was insane..two full runways were jam packed. I'll attach some pics when I get to my laptop. Overall an A+ day.
No hot nuns and yes we brought beer. Security was a joke
