When we dropped off our youngest to start college, I remember starting thinking 'YEAH!!!! Kids are all gone and flown the coupe! Got the whole house to just me! (oh and the wife, too). The only emotion was joy and relief. Grinning from ear to ear. Then I looked over to the wife. She was in tears.

I am taking my oldest to his first day of K a week from Tuesday. I'm already resigned to the fact that the tears, they will be-a flowin'. I need to hook some of those cataract shades. 

I'm sure before I know it I will be doing the MSU drop off thing, as well.

Yep. Compared her kindergarten pics to her pics of her with her squad at the tiger game last Friday. You remember them at point A like it was yesterday then you look at where they're at at point B and you know 12 years have passed and you just say WTF?

I offered to drop her off the first day but she's more excited to take the bus. tWife's a teacher who will be going back to work that day so I'll be the one standing there with her at the bus stop. Will be a tough morning for me, for sure. Can't believe she's already starting school. Damn time flies when you're getting old.

Ha, my wife is a teacher, too. Same deal for me. 

Good deal for me is that the school is in my hood so I can walk him there or we can ride bikes. I'm still nervous about it. When we were in school kids were fucking ruthless. We went to the park at the school the other day to play and familiarize him with it a bit more and while my 2 y.o. played on the swings/playscape, he wandered off into the trees and was playing with tree branches. I pulled him aside and said dude, when you start school here in a couple of weeks, are you going to play with the kids or go off into the trees and play with tree branches. He looked at me quizzically and said "Dad, I'll probably do a little of both."
