Okay. I'm skeptical that this storm will happen, at least to the full extent weather professionals are saying.

It just seems to me that most years, the first big storm that's predicted turns out to be nothing.

(same here - it's been such a mild fall, the ground is quite warm, etc - but, like good little American, I like to panic for the sake of panicking)...

one of my concerns is that whatever amount we get, it'll be a heavier, wet snow. And my Cleveland pear trees still have their leaves (they typically don't drop until mid-December) - which increases the surface area of the notoriously brittle branches.. possibly leading to irreparable destruction of some of my favorite trees at the Sakimano Estate.

We have some Aristocrat Pears in our back yard. They're still hanging on to about 50% of their leaves, even with that wind storm yesterday. Our leaves turned a nice deep orange, nearly red this year. They're good looking trees in the spring and fall.
