Looking ahead....
I know the football team is not allowed to but we are.
According to "Johnny Detroit"(pro handicapper who works for wagertalk.com), per his contacts at the LV Super Book, MSU/Iowa would be EVEN with Cook healthy and playing. If Cook was out, Iowa would be a 2.5 point fave.
Thoughts?
I'm pretty comfortable with our chances next week and potentially against Iowa because I don't think either team has the ability to take advantage of our greatest weakness (secondary). I felt the same about Michigan. Iowa in fact reminds me a bit of Michigan. Just a solid club that doesn't do anything spectacular. I think they're good but we can take them. Especially if we can be two dimensional.

If we avoid the trap on Saturday I'm confident all the way to a title.

Assuming we beat psu next week, I think we beat Iowa. I wouldn't call for a blow out, but again, MSU has experience this year of playing on a big stage.

I was trying to think earlier who would be a bad matchup for us. I don't honestly know enough about Clemson.LooseGoose wrote:If we avoid the trap on Saturday I'm confident all the way to a title.
Baylor would be a bad matchup for us this year. Can anyone else who might possibly make their way to the playoff sling the ball like they can, even with the Frosh at QB?
How is Clemson's air attack?
I think we could and would beat Bama. They can't throw it. Fuck the SEC, the gap has narrowed considerably since 2010. We would probably be 2 TD dogs and that would be like taking candy from a baby.

MSU can play with Bama in the trenches. They will have trouble with any team that can sling the ball around and also run. Bama ain't that team.

I don't know how good of a handicapper he is but yes he has connections. I have followed him for a few years. He's a UM fan but he passes my smell test in terms of being legit.xsanguine wrote:Is this handicapper legit?

How does a UM fan pass the smell test? All UM fans smell because they are trashy or trustafarians. They all smell.

OSU opened -2 1/2 against UM, and UM is now favored?
And Even WITH Cook?

The UM question was for BobbySak.
The other one was my reaction to the hypothetical line for a MSU-Iowa game...as in that line surprises me.

Re: Looking ahead....
Iowa has had some close games and needed a 50+FG to beat Pitt.
I don't discount Nebraska's chances in this Friday's game in Lincoln.
Root for the Hawkeyes and Buckeyes this weekend in addition to MSU. The Spartans need to beat an undefeated Iowa team in 2 weeks to lock up a CFP birth.. If MSU beats a one loss Iowa they could get fucked and the committee takes a one loss Oklahoma to make up for stiffing Big 12 Baylor last year.
Worse is if OSU loses to umaa the loser of the Big Ten Championship get jumped because of umaa/Harbaugh mania. It's still possible one loss OSU jumps one loss Iowa for a New Years Bowl.

For real.
I mentioned it earlier but Jim Delany is high on the list of reasons that a feasible big Ten team will always make the playoff. Dude is way more powerful than you think and dude really likes money. He isn't on Osu or ums side... He's on the side of the team that'll make the most money.

Re: Looking ahead....
Cook is only worth 2.5?
Also seems hard to believe with a healthy Cook MSU wouldn't be favored. Iowa is a great matchup for MSU. They lack that downfield passing attack and their overall team speed doesn't seem to be that great.,
Also, once they lost Ott, their pass rush isn't good at all. Giving Cook all day to throw would be very bad for them.

I'm in the middle on this. I think he would definitely prefer for a OSU/PSU/UM to be the conference's flagship. But yes, I agree he is one of, if not the most powerful dude in NCAA sports and he would back us like crazy if it ensured a playoff spot.Travis of the Cosmos wrote:For real.

Would a one loss Ohio State get the Rose over a one loss Iowa (in the B1G champ game)?
