There's an art to placement and timing. Over cooked mushrooms and onions ruin a pizza.
Not getting the timing thing you speak of. Do you mean throwing different items on during the cooking process?
Yes. Then a final handful of mozzarella to finish it over the top. Goodness. No dried up curled up mushroom or burnt ended onions.

You can throw fresh spinach, basil, tomatoes on after pulling pizza from the over. Never interrupt the cooking process to add items.DWags wrote:The Pantry wrote:Placement and timing? Placement, for the sake of even coverage, I understand.

If you've burned mushrooms and onions (or anything else) you may have cut them too thin.

If I don't hear soon I'll just go with the old deer camp specials of Mincemeat or Raisin.
Triple?? Speak up soon or forever hold your peace, running to the store for other ingredients around 1pm.

Jeezus, I don't know if I provide pies for camps in the thumb. Which way from Lapeer?
I'm assuming north, if so how far south of M-46 or M-90?

Hell no you don't. That's not even a deer camp. Probably has running water and electric hookup.

IT is in Lapeer. 160 acres just to the northwest of Lake Nepessing.LooseGoose wrote:TheReal_LWS wrote:

And yes we have running water and electric. Our lodge is nicer than most people's homes!

This is what happens when suburbanites go into the wilderness. SDLWS would probably have a seizure without a TV to watch.

lol, it wasn't the $$ - it was whether anyone going home this weekend was going near you. And nope, go no travelers through the suburbs of Lapeer unless one of my kids goes to visit their grandpa. He's got to be within a few miles of you just about 3 miles SW of Lapeer.

Re: Loose, what's in the oven?
I had a 1st yesterday, a friend of a neighbor emailed me to ask if I would make him some stuff for deer hunting. Seems he'd had my pies at his pals and decided to write. So at his request made him 2 pecan pies and a banana nut cake. The cake is in the oven but the pies are done. I was quite pleased with how they look since I'd never made one before.

Pizza attempt #2.
Just cooked pizza #2 - am exceptionally happy with the crust this time. Tried a different recipe and this one is more like the thin crispy crust you get out in the Eastern US. Made more of a supreme type pizza - 3 cheeses, pepperoni, mushrooms, ham, yellow peppers & onions. Mighty, mighty good.

1st thing is this - makes everything a breeze so it's fun and not a chore. Here's a nice used one for $100 until you decide if the cooking thing will "take" :
Kitchen Aid heavy duty 6 quart mixer w/3 attachments - $100 (Aurora)
$100 on that is theft, it's a lifetime appliance. That's not a tilt head it's the bigger model.
Just this afternoon I made dough for 4 pizzas and 4 dozen cookies with mine in less than an hour.

Motown's Strawberry-rhubarb prior to being capped and then after it was cooked. My crusts aren't pretty but they work.
And my photo skills suck too.

No idea, I'm good either way. I enjoy making them.
5 pies total today. The Strawberry Rhubarb and Apple. A custard for my sister, a custard for my mom and I to have a slice tonight them for her to take home. And a Blueberry for her to take to my other sister and BiL. I need to head to the Amish store early next week to re-stock my lard supply.
The 2 custard pies

And after we were speaking of Pumpkin last night.....#1 son is coming over tonight to replace a starter in the truck. He's been hinting around about a pumpkin pie so I made a couple just now and popped them in the oven.
Before cooking - 2 9" pies and 1 smaller for #1 Grandson (who's spoiled rotten).

After the game today I had some kids and grandkids coming over so my grandson and I made some Oatmeal Raisin Apple cookies. The house smelled like I'd made granola bars.

I had to get away from football today after that game. So it was an easy decision.

Re: Loose, what's in the oven?
Another week, another time to abandoning the game to distract myself with cooking.
Got more apples this week, the kids are coming over and I wanted to do something other than pie.
1st up is that old school lunch favorite - Apple Crisp.
2nd was something I've not tried before, we'll see how it tastes - Apple pudding.
In the oven now, tasting and judgment around 7pm.

A friend spotted some at Brian's in West Branch, didn't buy them. I tried to explain how angry you'd be over that. They didn't understand. My daughter is supposed to be in WB tomorrow so the end of the quest may be near.

Haven't tried the dicer with my food processor yet. Interested to know how they do through your stand mixer attachment.LooseGoose wrote:The Pantry wrote:Get any rutabagas yet?
