Another one bites the dust. Seems like a joint Bobby Sak would have enjoyed.

I was wrong. The beer distributors and some staff were told Art's was going to close on June 1. Turns out they made a last minute deal to keep the doors open. Hopefully, they can turn things around and keep it going.
As you know Blanch, the bar business is beyond simple. All you have do is open the doors, get out of the way and make sick cash.

Yeah, all 40k are 21 and thirsty. Also, there are no long hours involved, the owners never really need to be there, nobody ever steals from you, there are no regulatory bodies to worry about, no liquor laws, nobody ever sues you.
Damn, it's an uncontested lay up. Everyone should do it.

So are you really saying owners don't need to be there ? As for your catch word "oligopoly", there are nearly 4000 bar seats from the peanut barrel to crunchy's. Hardly a lack of competition.
Oh, and liability insurance is free.

Dooleys, Varsity Inn, Spartan Sports Den, Olga's, Bunches, TJ's, Americas Cup, Bizzaire, The Post, Evergreen Grill, Small Planet, Lou & Harry's, Woodys, What up Dawg. I'm sure I'm forgetting a couple.

Not sure. Obviously, I jumped the gun based on sources that told me they were done. The owners are divorced and I think the husband wants to buyout the ex wife.
There are certainly some tax issues involved.

How come you didn't list your place since it was bought out too.
....and I didn't realize Spartan sports den and small planet was located between crunches and peanut barrel

I've been to Art's so long ago, but honestly I couldn't even find it if I went back. Is it within walking distance of the Lug Nuts stadium? If not is there anything else in the area or potential to build up around that bar?

Dooleys was done for 2 years before Harpers came in. Small Planet failed twice. The Landshark failed in 36 months after I sold. ( closed for nearly a year before the current owners took over ) I just listed 14 failed bars, dumbass.

Yep. Everyone did pretty well with those 700 bar seats gone. Pesky liquor laws really got in the way for Dooleys. Too bad they didn't have competent management and insurance.
I personally would love to go to a Blanch owned bar. Minors drink free, blackout nightly, no theft or liquor law violations, no health department, no inspections of any kind.
Damn, Blanch could afford all the horse he could inject and retire in 5 years.

Ftr, of that list only the post and woodys were around when I was in school. Whats in their spot now?
....and given msu and El attitude towards students since 2001, half of your list closed within the past 12 years...gee, I wonder why.....

So, you ripped off the new owner and defrauded them about how much money it would make. Are you currently in litigation? Do the current owners new a lawyer?
