So embarrassed

This morning on the way to school we are walking our bikes down the path. It's too narrow to ride and the safeties will have your ass if you try. He scrapes his ankle on the pedal and I tell him you have to be careful when you're walking your bike that you keep it away from your body so the pedals don't scrape your legs. I say especially when you're wearing shorts. Then, being the sarcastic ass that I am I launch into "Or Jorts. You really have to be careful if you're wearing jorts."

"What are jorts?"

"They are jean shorts and they're awesome."

"(15 year old cousin) and (aunt) always say why can't people wear shorts, or jeans, why do they have to wear jorts?"

"I know! Right??"

Suddenly feeling of dread overcomes me and my intuition proves prophetic. I look up and the mom walking down the path 25 feet in front of us is indeed wearing fucking jorts. Oh man I feel like shit. She probably thought I was specifically making fun of her. I'm sure she heard it, we were talking in normal voices. Fuck.

I don't get why people think "Jorts" are a fashion no-no. Jeans go with everything, and it's too hot for long pants. Whatever, doesn't matter to me. I do what I want. Fashion isn't my thing anyway. I don't buy new shit, and if I do, it's whatever is cheapest because shopping is a bitch and too expensive.
