Is the lone cowboy you're referring to Ed Harris? I think he just talks about him being friends with everyone because he has been going to the park for 30 years. Still not sure what mischief he's up to.
My take is that Ed Harris is the creator's partner who "died" in the park. Hopkins said that his former partner got too involved and Harris seems to be trying to get to the maze which is the inner working of the park. Maybe Harris was just working on the bots and not the park design so he is trying to get to all the decommissioned ones to continue he research in bringing conscious to them.
My take was episode 1 was good, but the last two have been slow. For all the people that say Game of Thrones season 1 was slow, at least they slow scenes gave some information about the story. Here it is just slow because they repeat the same scenes over and over. I know it is a computer program on a loop. Let's get moving!

Agree with your 2nd paragraph. Thought the last episode was the worst of the 3. Need more significant details if they don't want to jump into major plot lines or stories right away.

Part of the hook is they are trying to make you figure out what the hell is going on.

Re: Westworld - HBO
It may be a lot of information for the story, but we just don't know it yet. I've seen all of GOT (never read a word of the books), but just re-watched the very first episode the other day. Years ago when it first aired, Robert almost marrying Ned's sister seemed pretty pointless, and nothing more than a lost love. Sansa wanting to marry Joffrey just seemed like a young chick wanting to be a princess/queen. Finding some direwolves, just seemed like they found some pets.gomersbro wrote:AnomanderRake wrote:Yeah I would say they are setting up some sort of revolt or escape plan by the hosts (androids).

My point is that some of the little differences in the loop each time due to different guests being there or whatever, could prove significant later on. Or maybe it's about building the characters. I wouldn't think they'd waste time for no reason.
Having said that, I really have no need to see her drop that mother fucking can one more time.

Did they already film all 5 seasons? 2 years in production? There are websites, if you want to get more immersive. Lots of good shit at Reddit /r/westworld.

They've only filmed ten episodes but it was back in 2014. Total budget was $100 million. No word on a season two but it is assumed the main cast have contractual holds in case of pick up.
And I fell asleep during episode three which is not a good sign.

I've heard that 5 seasons are planned. Not that there will be a guarantee this show will make it that far. I think Rome was planned for 5 seasons too.
Ratings went up for the last episode. I'm guessing the crowd that finds this show boring will be lost to Walking Dead starting back up this Sunday, so I'm guessing the numbers will be down for week 4.
I'm enjoying the show. Each week gives you a little more understanding on how this world works. I'm a big Dark Tower (Stephen King) fan and these early episodes definitely have that kind of vibe. I think there was even a nod to the Dark Tower with the turtle and bear carvings in that tent.
Anyway, I geek out for this kind of stuff.

I think, if done right, it is the slow episodes that you should be able to go back to and say: 'that's where I missed it'. I know when reading ASOIAF, I've done that more than once. Especially when GRRM is describing food for the 100th time, then all the sudden you miss the cannibalism that just happened.

Is Bernard a host?
The picture of the maze on the scalp, compare that to the Westworld logo (the unfinished human in the circular thing)
Does Wyatt have Arnolds uploaded personality?
Is this taking place underground, or in outer space?

Reddit is pretty damn good about letting you know when there are spoilers. A lot of it is recaps and theories. I think it is so far different from the book that the book may not be a spoiler.Other Teams Pursuing That wrote:InTenSity wrote:Use Reddit, OTPT. Plenty of stuff out there that is interesting.

I don't think so. Possible though.
Hopkins created him, so it's again possible.
Nah, pretty sure they just bought up Monument Valley.
Also, what the hell do they need a fucking Bagger 288 for? (That big honking digging machine)

Yeah, he obviously knows Arnold though. I am starting to think it's his brother, out for REVENGEANCE. He doesn't want to be bothered, he wants to master this "game" at an elite level and defeat Ford.

The only thing I don't like about this show is the over the top hostile work environment. Every employee/employer seems to hate every other employee/employer. It's a bit over the top. The only one that seems to be having fun is Ed Harris, and his sort of fun is pretty sadistic.
Everything else though, damn. Top notch.

I didn't really notice it until you mentioned it. Probably a result of such an intense work environment.

Re: Westworld - HBO
I'm thinking there's a reason. We may have had a hint this week with the Asian guy (the one who was trying to get the bird to "live"). His co-worker said something about him not being cut out for the job and that he's surprised that they didn't discover that when he was in the womb. Could be hyperbole, but it could be something much more.Other Teams Pursuing That wrote:Watch Out Pylon! wrote:

They also don't say much about the company, only hinting around at some things, while leaving a lot of mystery.
