If you have kids that watch a lot of YouTube

Might be smart to watch with them and see what ads they are getting. I have ad personalization turned off for all google products because.... well fuck them. So now the ads we are getting in the last few days are extremely suggestive “dating” ads. I’m not generally a conspiracy theorist but it feels like they’re saying “oh, you don’t want to accept our personalized ads? Here, you get borderline porn for your 10year old.”

If they are using your login, stop doing that, because then it is based on you, an adult user.

Set them up with their own account.

Or use an ad blocker.

No. One, kids aren’t supposed to have their own accounts and two, as lockers don’t work in the YouTube app. Don’t blame users for googles failings. I found a lot of others complaining about this to google so it’s not a me problem.

We use an email for my daughter. Up to now we haven’t seen anything alarming. But I am tired of cookie swirl C, Ryan’s toy review, and frozen videos.

I hate all the videos of kids playing with toys. I hear it’s just the beginning.

Cocomelon doesn’t do it for her anymore, and I liked that one.

Not to be confused with Coco’s Melons, which is what Roc was checking out on YouTube right before he switched off the personalized ads. And he wonders why he’s getting this Hook up ads now.

It’s probably best to avoid YouTube at all costs for children unless you can watch with them on account of the worm hole of horrible and vile content on there that they can easily fall into by clicking on the wrong series of recommended videos

Yes we could make her watch YouTube kids. I should look into that. As far as filtering, the app or the AI or whatever doesn’t consider adverts when filtering apparently. Because I can’t even report the ads as inappropriate.
