ITT, name a non-animated movie from the 80's or 90's I can watch with the kids
Summer is in full swing and that means movie night. Need some recommendations.
Kids are 9, 11, 11, and 14, can go as high as PG-13 depending on content
Already done:
ET
Close Encounters
Indiana Jones (all)
Ghostbusters
Star Wars saga
Not 80's or 90's but same concept:
Pirates of the Caribbean
Harry Potter
Some pics for inspiration:

Thanks!
Stand By Me is rated R I was shocked to learn last night after spending $2.99 to rent it!

Also one about the family dog getting giant sized but chemicals but I can't remember the name of it.
Thanks Rock, I remember seeing all of these (except Willie Wonka, saw that on TV) at the drive in or theater as a kid. Trip down memory lane!

This. I'm 26 and I still enjoy that movie.
Going off of what I remember/liked from the 90s (and early 00s):
Homeward Bound
Little Giants
Mighty Ducks
The Princess Diaries (if you have any girls)
The Kid
George of the Jungle
Hook
Holes
The Secret Garden
The Little Princess (also girly)
Little Rascals
My Girl
Heavyweights (I've never actually seen this but my bf likes it a lot)
The Parent Trap
Air Bud (not the sequels though)
Home Alone
Angels in the Outfield
Any of the old Muppet movies

It is, but an R rated movie from 1986 is not the same as an R from 2014.SeeRockCity wrote:Stand By Me is rated R I was shocked to learn last night after spending $2.99 to rent it!
Edit: I clearly know nothing about rating movies.

FTR, my 10 year-old loves all of the Air Bud and Buddies sequels. But Rock, he's right, avoid them as they are very hard to watch for adults!

I was going to suggest My Cousin Vinny from 1992 - how the hell is that rated R.
They only say the F word about 100 times.

I guess that will do it. As I have no children that age, I just don't follow it much. Clearly, I know very little about movie ratings. I figured it was a large part of the average 13 year old's vocabulary.LoneWolfSparty wrote:

Over The Top. It combines the emotional drama of a custody child hearing with arm wrestling. Something for everyone!

You're kidding, right? The concept worked for 1 through 4, but by 5 it was really getting tired. 7 was nothing but shameless commercialism.

They did lay it on a little thick with the product placement in 7... But I honestly didn't think they were going to be able to fit that 2 liter of Diet Pepsi in there. But, God bless her heart, they made it happen.85Grad wrote:
