I went to the movie when it came out in 1978- a huge Belushi and Aykroyd fan and almost walked out. There are funny bits, but the story line was too forced and contrived in hammering in a farcical plot with music that was supposed to be taken seriously.

The completely moronic stalking of Belushi by Carrie Fisher was a waste that got in the way. The car crashes were stale and way over-done. And throughout the movie, Belushi's voice is clearly affected by cocaine abuse.

It comes down to the suspension of disbelief. I don't go to movies much anymore because I think my patience with them is more thin in my old cynical age than when I was young and could forget about life. Easier to watch at home, then if you don't like it, turn it off
