Like it says in the article, LVB only wants to play for one team, and it’s not the Lions. I really think he just wants to retire as a Steeler, as he’s said before. Bell really screwed over Pittsburgh (and himself) by sitting out a year instead of signing a one-year contract. Most owners would tell him to get lost, but the Rooney family is a lot nicer than most others in the NFL, so we shall see.

Wish him well but it's like a boxer taking a couple of years off. T

Bell is ready to train, his mind willing but speed and reaction time for running backs is hard to maintain after time off.

See, I disagree it’s a publicity stunt. IMO, it’s really a sympathy stunt. Get a minimum contract, then retire a Steeler. OTOH, you could be right and he’s just kidding himself that he’s still got the engine and wheels to play at an NFL-level again. As I so often say to myself these days: Not my problem.

I actually meant to type Shriner’s. The first spot they put out a few Christmases ago was cute and stood out because it was upbeat and positive, but now it seems like they’re spending way too much on advertising, which makes me skeptical.
