After the '04 elections the Democrats were greasing the skids for Hillary Clinton. Barack Obama was the young skinny guy in the Illinois state legislature.

If the GOP has Trump on the ticket in 2020 there are very few people who can be named as potential Democratic nominee in Feb '17.

A lot will have to do with who wins the election to be the next DNC chair and if that person makes big progress on elimnating super delegates and schedluing elections where the winning candidate builds nearly insurmountable leads with delegates from states that don't matter if n the General election. Deep South Super Tuesday pretty much gave Hillary Clinton a lead Sanders or any other candidate couldn't win.

The last night phrasing was silly and misinformed but to be fair and considering the studies I have seen, immigrant children in the EU countries do commit crimes at a higher rate than their parents or the general population. I thought it was interesting that a lot of research shows no significant difference in the crimes committed by the actual immigrants (actually often lower than general population), but does find higher crime rates in their children particularly young males.

Correlation obviously does not equal causation and when you control for socioeconomic status indicators the story becomes much less clear. I suspect that poor socioeconomic conditions are mostly to blame for the increased crime among 2nd generation immigrants, not the nature of their home country's culture or religion.

My problem is with nationalism on the rise. Ever since Bismarck in Germany and the red shirts in Italy united those countries under the guise of super patriotic nationalism something very bad globally takes place. Where America was always the voice of reason, we have a leader who is a sword rattler now. And asking the countries of Europe to anny up for NATO is fine, but let's remember we're encouraging all of them to increase their military budgets. Buckle up.

It seems logical to conclude that someone's culture might follow them and their offspring even if they move to a different geographical location.

Yes X, there is research that shows the correlation between socioeconomic status and crime rate. Regarding the studies on refugees and immigrants, considering there is no significant difference between first generation immigrants' crime rate and the general population, it's reasonable to think that their culture or religion are not making them more likely to commit crimes.

Given that these immigrants and refugees are disproportionately poor, it's also reasonable to think that their children would commit crimes at a rate higher than the general population (as many low socioeconomic status groups are prone to do).

It has to be hard as hell following Trump around telling us what he really meant all the time. Even harder when you have to constantly tell us what his aids or cabinet meant. It would be nice to be able to walk away from a trump or spicer or Conway message and not have to have five interpreters tell us what they really meant.
