When I want to be alone I just go to a place no one is currently occupying. There isn't any forethought.

Man, that would suck to be in a relationship like that. I see your point. It's way better when you do things together. I guess I've been lucky and it's my assumption that you work on house shit together. To be honest, I'm glad my wife makes color and picture and design decisions but has always been good enough to ask me my opinion too. Maybe she's always talked me into shit and I've never realized it

Nah, I agree. There's a lot of shit I let the wife do because she cares about it and I don't really care about it. If she weren't around I'd probably have to care enough to at least make a decision.
