Hey Goose, you got a minute?
As we talked about a couple of months ago, I've started collecting vintage porcelain signs. It's a tiny collection to date; a couple of gas signs, a couple of automakers, one aviation sign. I'm always looking even when I'm not buying. Mostly, I've been trying to get a feel for what people are willing to pay for a lot of these signs. Lately, I've noticed that not only are sellers asking more for these signs, but buyers are paying much, much more for them. For example, a Green Streak gas sign that has routinely been selling for $125 or less just went for nearly $700. A Musgo gas sign, which is highly sought after and usually goes for between $150-$200 just went for over $500. It's nuts. Any idea or guess as to what might be happening? Do prices jump in the summer and level off again later on? Or are people just idiots paying ridiculous prices?
