oh - and for those interested, the Born to Run record was released 42 years ago today..

I don't understand why they are closing it for good. It's still a decent building. They could use the space for other events. Seems like such a waste.

Part of the deal was that the palace wouldn't compete with LCA for such events. So, if they're not actively competing to bring in those events regularly, financially it wouldn't make sense to keep the building for purely excess concerts and such where things just can't be worked out* maintenance costs, taxes, all that.

*things can always be worked out. Many cities handle it just fine. There will just be few days where LCA is totally unhooked.
