Saw a couple Vipers games, TSO, number of Pistons games, and my daughter sing the National Anthem for the state HS wrestling finals one year. Very cool venue. A shame to tear it down, but that's the way our world works now.

I saw an earlish Metallica concert at the Palace... their first major tour. It was pretty epic.

Wife had access to a suite at the Palace right next to Davison's suite. First level right behind the Pistons bench. She was lobbying for ANR Pipeline in the 90's before kids and they split the suite with DTE every other night of the year. The deal was on Jan. 1 ANR had it, on Jan 2 Dte had it. and on and on. If nothign was happening oh well, if a big even was and landed on your night. cool. They also negotiated some nights with them. For the most part the wife would ask me up there for big games to help talk basketball with some of the muckity mucks that night. But for really big events. (Barbara Striesan ETC) the big wigs said, "we got it" and she was shut out. But for most of the early 90's we'd do some great concerts. She really couldn't invite a lot of clients to guns and roses, the grateful dead, or Kiss and shit like that, so she'd grab all the tickets and we'd have fun with 12 of our frineds. Anyway, I really got to see some great concerts at that place. Saw some great games, saw some great HS. basketbal finals. Only thing I missed when she stopped working after we had our second daughter in 2000 and we decided to have her stay at home and drop the job. Loved that place. Lots of great memories.

Never went to the Palace. Would’ve gone to see the Vipers or catch the Pistons in their prime, but late 20s/early 30s is when I was working madman hours at very little money, so no time, and no cash. By the time I started making good money, I’d stopped caring about the NBA and the Vipers were gone.

Oh well, Rest in Pieces.

I went to the Palace for quite a few events.  Lots of Pistons games, quite a few metal shows, a couple Vipers games and an MSU basketball game (I think against Standford).  Got to see Jordan when he played for Washington...that was sad.   Saw Ben Wallace attempt a 3 pointer, completely air ball and still get a standing ovation.  Watched the Pistons beat the Lakers in a regular season game during the 03-04 championship season when L.A. had Kobe, Shaq, tGlove and tMailman. Good memories.

Roughly 10-11 miles away, as the crow flies. Thinking might be able to hear it 50-60 seconds after they push the plunger/button. Hope it's not the same company that botched at the Silverdome.

Nah.  Alarm went off.  Shut it off and went back to sleep.

Considering how stripped down the building was, it wasn’t that big of a deal. I’ll choose repurposing all those still-fairly-new bricks and other materials over watching it blasted to bits any day.
