Night game for MSU @ UM

whoa!

Funny how they were against this for a few years due to it being "dangerous," but since MSU was 3-9 last year and just lost to ND, it's all of a sudden a great idea.

First night game in the history of college football.

I forget, did Hollis invent the night game, or was it UofM?  I think maybe Hollis only invented football games on basketball courts.   Or maybe more than that.  It's confusing with that guy.  He invents things a lot.

I don't know. I guess I just feel like he agreed in the last few years that MSU and um shouldn't play at night because of safety reasons. Maybe I'm misremembering a lot, but I thought he should have at least pushed it harder than he may have tried. For some reason I feel that he lets um dictate a few things. I'm probably completely wrong, since I can't come up with any other examples, though.

No, I pretty much agree with you.

He definitely didn't want the night game on our campus. I'm sure he is not as worried with it being elsewhere. But yeah he probably did have a handshake agreement with Brandon about not having it on either campus and it's a bad look.

It also sucks because it is a built in advantage, especially once the local media starts hyping the big house under the lights bullshit that they do every time there is a night game there. And I highly highly doubt we would ever reciprocate and have a night game here as long as Hollis is around.

I suppose I see where y'all are coming from but in my list of gripes that's pretty far down the list.

If TV really wanted it to be a night game before, it would have been one.

If Hollis and Pizza Boy had wanted a night game, it would've been a night game.

UM in general outperforms MSU at an athletic department level. Whether that's PR, Nike deals, or even branding. It is what it is.

Yep. It helps when you have an entire PR firm full of um alums on retainer. If you're already a major fan/grad, you'd be frothing at the mouth to promote your school and take a paycheck for it. And since it's outside the university, it doesn't have to jump through the same number of hoops and its budget must be yuge.

Hard to play catch up. Like Pepsi trying to beat coke. Not gonna happen. You find your niche and work it. Then you hope the monster stumbles here or there but it rarely does. Home was like coke deciding to change the formula to "new coke" the fucked up, but now have the old coke back in.

Guys, it's no longer an athletic department decision. TV has 100% of the say under the new contract. Except for the last 3 weeks in November. ADs can veto night games.

Yes. If you've noticed, ABC night games now start at 730, Fox has 4:00, 4:30, 8:00 starts involving B1G games.
