Only if Trumpistan takes the UP

It's a coin flip on Trumpistan taking all of MI. That Wingnut legislature would find a way to make it happen.

As long as you're clear that Florida is the crowned jewel of Trumpistan, with Mar-a-Lago as the capitol.

It's been quoted twice now, so no use editing, but it should read "crown jewel" rather than "crowned jewel." The latter doesn't really make sense and is not a thing.

It’s Trumpistan language and I have no doubt it makes sense to the Trumpistanites. I mean they think Han 6 was a normal tourist day at the capitol.

I recently had a discussion along these lines with my parents. We are prepared to cede Texas, Florida, and the whole gulf coast, but we'll keep Georgia. The Carolinas are probably also a lost cause.

Trumpistan is an apt description.

Here in MI we have Kalamazoo attorney Matthew DePerno who just declared he’s running for AG in 2022.

DePerno represented one of the Trumpites in Antrim County who pushed rigged voting machines and Dominion Voting Systems of using a secret algorithm to change votes for Trump to votes for Biden.

https://www.freep.com/story/news/politics/elections/2021/07/15/mattthew-deperno-lawye-pushed-antrim-county-vote-fraud-claims-running-attorney-general/7975368002/

Trump reportedly wanted to order flags to be flown at half staff in honor of Ashli Babbit, the Trump supporter shot and killed by Capital Police when she tried to gain entry to Congressional offices by climbing through an interior window.  The SOB wanted to honor a domestic terrorist.

Regardless of where you live, see if you read or hear coverage of “concerned citizens” disrupting local school board meetings demanding the local boards commit to stop any attempt to include Critical Race Theory in curriculum and don’t want them to use anything from the 1619 Project.

My tinfoil hat tells me this is an organized effort a lot like the “spontaneous” crowds of Tea Party supporters who would show up to shut down local ACA informational meetings in 2009.

it should be noted that Hillary warned us about this 5+ years ago.. how Russia was determined to place the racist, bigoted christian sexual predator in the White House.

as usual, Hillary was right.. and decent Americans who a) aren't racist, bigoted misogynists, b) don't trust the mainstream media and c) respect America and the Constitution knew it then and we know it now.

They know the word scares Americans so they just use it whenever. It's too bad her voters are not equally scared of terms like white supremacy or christian nationalism.

Was watching the Olympics and saw some athlete thought everyone that competes deserves a medal (a commemorative one) for just making it. Thought oh boy that's going to piss off a bunch of people.

Got me thinking a little bit though, I think intellectually and when it comes to expertise we have way too many 'participation phds' going out. You have complete idiots thinking they are on the same level as experts. That's not a good thing.

if Democrats fail to pass sweeping legislation to protect voting rights, they will forever be in the minority starting next year.

and they'll deserve to be. Record turnout in 2018, 2020, incredible grassroots organization from genuine American heroes like Stacy Abrams.. Georgia (Georgia!) elects two Democrats to the US Senate.. and this is the 'thanks' the electorate gets.

I'm bearish on the future of our system. Tucker Carlson was broadcasting from Budapest last night which is I guess the template for the authoritarian regime Trump is aiming for. You have Wendy Rogers a State Senator in AZ calling for election officials and people at Dominion to be arrested and put in solitary confinement.

Quick google search on Rogers and this quote comes up:

""I like Indians and I like Redskins," Rogers wrote.

"I like Aunt Jemima and I like Uncle Ben. I like Robert E Lee and I like Stonewall Jackson. I don't like traitors who hate America. Stand up for our culture!""

What an embarrassment.

Apparently a few of the local “necks” are all wound up about CRT and transgender stuff as it relates (it doesn’t) to school

https://www.thealpenanews.com/news/local-news/2021/08/residents-voice-concerns-during-aps-town-hall/

An altercation at Alpena Public Schools town hall meeting on Tuesday interrupted a member of the public’s opportunity to have their voice heard in the front oval at Alpena High School.

Mitchel Dipzinski, a 2015 graduate of AHS, was speaking on behalf of members of the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender and Queer plus community when a commotion broke out.

APS parent Michael Mantas was moving toward the microphone, where Dipzinski was speaking, when another individual attending the meeting blocked his path.

“Get out of my way. Don’t touch me,” Mantas shouted.

Officers with the Alpena Police Department and deputies with the Alpena County Sheriff’s Office separated both men, while the tension of the altercation could be felt in the crowd.
Members of the community have asked members of the board to make their positions known on a wide variety of topics, including mask mandates, vaccine mandates, climate change, critical race theory, and transgender issues.

However, the board of education has a policy that it does not respond to public comment during the meeting.

“It’s not in the standards and we don’t teach it,” he said. “It’s a high-level post-secondary theory that would be pretty much lost on most K-12 students.”

However, Rabbideau said the district does have a controversial issues policy where teachers can — when it’s age appropriate — teach controversial subjects if they can present both sides of the issue. He said the policy specifically says that a teacher cannot bring their personal beliefs into the conversation.

Looked like it was a large field and the competition split the vote up. Read up on the money. Both of his endorsed candidates are getting heavily outspent.

Trump backed candidate wins his primary.

I thought voters were sick of extremism & divisiveness?

Looked like it was a large field and the competition split the vote up. Read up on the money. Both of his endorsed candidates are getting heavily outspent.

So voters are only "fed up with the toxicity and divisiveness" when all other things are equal?
