izzo interview bothers me
First, he slams last years team's off season workouts. Now if I recall they apparently were the best off season practices since the Flintstones, so which is it?
Secondly its confirmed Appling played with a bum wrist practically all year. Again I ask why? We sat Payne for a month and really didn't have any kind of back up and it seemed to work OK but wouldn't sit Appling even tho two others are capable pgs plus Alvin wasn't getting any mins either and he could have filled in at the two.
Bottom line I don't fault Appling anymore for his final four miss. I blame izzo.
Even mental has to agree with me on this.

It's best to not overly analyze Izzo's words. He says a lot of stuff, sometimes conflicting.

I read the best way to get your questions answered is to troll a forum. Instead of asking, how do I figure out the MPG on a moped, it would be better to start a thread saying that moped's suck and get horrible gas mileage.
I'm just going to assume that is what you're doing. I'm debating on Jimmy Johns for lunch today or Panera.

Izzo says the same things about his teams every year. Just don't take it for anything.
Every year: we are going to run, best off season since " ", etc

Still don't like that he didn't do that after promising his players.

True but I guess I don't like the way he essentially throws Appling under the bus here. Especially since he sacrificed his draft pick for izzo

You're not taking enough personal responsibility for this past year's team.

A lot of people complaining performed pretty poorly on the message boards last season.

The Appling wrist ....that UConn game was just pain-staking. Appling was no threat and could not stop Napier. Then again nobody could in the tourney.

How the fock does he throw appling under a bus in any goddamn way ?
Is there paint chips pre 1976 flaking off your apartment that you carry to " work " each day ?
You're fucking bizzarro dude. Whacked takes every day. Do you do drugs and shit or were your parents siblings? I can't figure out your weird takes.

Dunce,
You think he purposely played app against his will ? That he knew how severe his wrist was and said fuckr it, let's lose and hurt him more?
And you awkwardly mischaracterize that as throwing him under the bus ?
Really ? Wow. Is the moon a mothership for aliens, too ?

I do think Blanch might have a point maybe. If Appling was really significantly injured then he sacrificed his draft stock because his game turned to crap as a result. Dont think they wanted to admit it at the time because then you expose a weakness to the opponent.
Like Payne's lung issue. Since it was later discovered he had mono that has got to only help his stock

I assume these are the quotes Blanch is referring to...
"“We’re not playing any games or guarding people. But this team right now is playing harder than last year’s team played. Now that’s in the offseason, but usually you don’t play as hard in the offseason as you do during the season, so that’s a positive.”
OK, that is a bit of a shot at last year's team. Especially when he said this a year ago about the 2013-2014 squad...
"Probably the best summer collectively we could have," Izzo said. "If you believe in the theory that players are made in the summer and teams are made in the winter, then I look back at last year and say, 'Wow,' because we a couple guys that didn't do anything and they were in our top seven."
So, long story short, I don't completely disagree with Blanch on this point.
With that said, where are you getting this Appling stuff from?

Re: izzo interview bothers me
I understand this quote, but it's kind of a bummer. We just can't beat Duke/Kansas/Kentucky on the recruiting trail and Izzo has accepted it.
On how recruiting losses in 2013 and 2014 altered his outlook
“We had two tough years — when I say ‘tough years,’ the one year, we recruited Jabari (Parker) and we put a lot into that and we only needed one guy that year and didn’t get him. And then, of course, the way we started out last year, with the six or seven guys that we lost to Kansas, Kentucky and Duke, I guess that’s a bummer, in some ways, but some of that was my fault, too. There were reasons we did what we did. There were educated reasons. It wasn’t like we were just pie-in-the-sky, let’s go after this guy. We did what we did. It didn’t work out. So we have kind of relooked at things, like I’ve done a couple of times in my career, not to try to get a smaller guy — just know who you’re recruiting against, what you’re doing. And I kind of like the direction we’re heading right now and I think that we could be really good next year and then down the road really, really good. And that’s kind of the way we’re trying to do it.”

Anyone who blames Appling for this team's failures can go f-uck themselves. The kid played his ass off for this program. Had that wrist been healthy, I'm pretty sure MSU makes it to the FF again. He gave his heart and soul for the team, and PLAYED OUT OF POSITION and took it like a champ.
