Tanfan! wrote:I took this English history class that was god awful. It was part of my core major so I had to take some type if history class. Made the mistake of taking this particular history class. It was the most boringest subject I ever encountered. You had to know every single fucking royal and who fought in what stupid war. I walked into the mid term and read the 1000 word first essay question. I knew it was the last day for drops and adds. So I got up. Gathered my shit. At this point the entire class is looking at me. So I then saluted the class and the morbidly obese ugly chick prof and walked out. Headed over to drops and adds and dropped it. Four less credits for that semester I then partied my ass off.
I took a French class very early in the morning one semester. You had to go to the library and listen to tapes and all that crap. Everybody else seemingly knew French already (must have taken it in high school or something). The prof made us speak French in class! He called on me one time, and I said (in French) that he was wearing a skirt (or called him a woman in pants). I dropped the class shortly after that.

Re: Failing a class at MSU
I had a political science class where there were 3 regular exams plus a final.
You could take any combination of 3 written exams you wanted (0, 1, 2 or 3). If you took all 3 exams, you didn't have to take the written final. If you took fewer than 3 exams your final plus your exam grades would be averaged.
So basically I decided to take 0 of the exams and skip the class almost every day and only attended the first and last class. So in that scenario my final made up 100% of my grade.
Got my final back: 0.0. Ouch.
Re-took the class with the same prof. Actually went to most classes and found out the 3 exams were super easy compared to the final, which was impossible and seemed to be graded much more harshly.
Took all 3 exams this time and got a 4.0 on each of them, didn't take the final obviously, and ended up with a 4.0 the second go around.

I got a case of mono the term I had Stats 201. Missed about 6 weeks of classes and failed the class miserably. I managed to pass all of my other classes that term despite missing all the lectures. I guess the book work was enough to get by one. Stats are for losers.

I failed 1 class at MSU and that was Calc III my sophomore year where I had an 80 year old Indian (dot, not feather) prof who would teach with his back turned to the class facing the board for 50 minutes. He'd never hold office hours, and by that time you really can't go to the help center because they're also struggling with that class. I'd love to see the breakdown of GPAs and %fail rate for the different subjects. I know Chem 141 is the most failed class, but what's the most failed program? I think Math has to be up there.

As for the implications on a potential job interview where this might come up, if you have a hell of a story from your time in Vegas, then I think you're all right. Of course, this is all predicated on you re-taking the class and getting a good grade.

Let's see
1). You live in Troy
2). Pics of grill area look like the back yard of an upper crust home ($500,000 too $700,000) range.
3). You got a cottage up North
4). You travel in style.
Yep, you be a baller for a young dude

Calculus. Took it once, disaster. Professor moved way too fast, didn't take it in high school like the majority of the rest of class did...I was done halfway through the year.
This time...taking it online.. procrastinated too much on the first two exams. Got back from Vegas the day before the first exam...I know it's my fault so not looking to deflect anything, just venting. Finally, third exam is tomorrow, and I actually started preparing early but I think it's too late.
Tough to take 9 credits and work when your friends are out drinking every other night.. I don't have the best self discipline.
Dude, you talk a bunch of shit on here and you talk down to people like they're idiots.
You can't even pass calculus? Grow the **** up and go to class/study online. Learn from this and get better. It sounds like you're running from your issue and passing the blame off on getting drunk too much. Quit being such a puss and just learn the material. It's not even that bad once you try.

Did anyone see that movie with Edward James Olmos (aka, Castillo from Miami Vice) where he plays a math teacher in Los Angeles?

Yeah, we saw it in 6th grade with the rest of every other 6th grader.

Do you ever wonder if your grammar would be better if your school had been "teaching to the test", rather than showing movies while the teacher goes to the lounge for a smoke?

Oh ok, I get it now.
Lot of misconceptions here. Tons of them.
I don't really want/need to address all of them.
Let me just say that we live a comfortable lifestyle, and part of that is because we still live in the same house we bought ~ 10 years ago when we got married. And I ain't "young".
