Always an excuse, never any credit for the opponent.
Heh, that was my take in real time. She looked done when it happened. To Serena’s credit she got taped up and played to the end. Make no mistake about it Azarenka had an amazing come back and won. Not sure where this Serena is a poor sport take is coming from.

I get it there's some greats out there that just rub people the wrong way, I've been at odds with Djokovich for a while. My friend hated Sampras the entire way through his run.
You watching the quarters? Looking forward to Medvedev vs Thiem

Finished the mens match last night. Just wow. Last two years the finals have been epic. If Thiem and Zverev are the next generation of superstars sign me up.

Watched Zeverev's second set come back on Herbert. Coverage is a little infuriating they jump around to all the courts and the different matches but that's how it goes when you have one channel covering it.
Bummed Williams dropped out and Nadal looks as sharp as ever.

cant wait for Nadal Djokovic match. Nadal the best ever on clay and Djokovic clearly #1 player on all other surfaces.steveschneider wrote:Watched Zeverev's second set come back on Herbert. Very possible we end up with that. The draw is a little upsetting, was hoping we could get Thiem on the Djokovic side of the bracket...would love to see those two face off. Could see another Djokovic Busta match and lets hope the time Djokovic has spent in a cold mountain stream trying to control his athletic emotions has paid off.

Zverev is great, he's on the Thiem and Federer side of the bracket as well. If all goes well we will see Zverev vs Nadal in the 1/8th finale. I wouldn't be too upset if Zverev pulls it off, kind of ready for the next wave of tennis super stars to take over and he's awesome.

Going off the eye test Rublev emerging as a dark horse to make a run at the whole thing. I got to see him and Berrittini play in the US Open last year, and I remember Berrittini tearing the cover off the ball...seems like Rublev has really improved he's absolutely smashing the ball.

should be a good match, although I still think a Djokovic Nadal match could be one for the ages. We could see an ultimate Djokovic meltdown when he is pushed to the limit by Nadal.steveschneider wrote:Tsitsipas crushes Rublev. Hoping he takes down Djokovic

He might not even win this one. Having arm issues and Busta has broken the serve. I think these younger players are ready to take it over. Total gym rats and off the chart ball strikers.

Djokavic fights back but Busta had his chances. I think Tsitsipas can take him. Just looks faster, stronger and healthier.

Djokovic vs Nadal
Was hoping for a fresh face in the finals but we got another finale between two of the big three. Tsitsipas worked Djokovic a bit today, I think Nadal comes in with an advantage.

Nadal in 4 over Djokovic. Nadal much fresher and is killing the ball.steveschneider wrote:Djokovic vs Nadal

Hard to disagree with this but the way 2020 has gone Djokavic will probably win.

Had to avoid this thread all day to not see any spoilers...just finished and congrats to Nadal. He absolutely destroyed Joker.
I'm ready for the next gen to take over but honestly no one is even close to this level which speaks volumes to the big three.

We shall see. I thought he was invincible until the Olympics where we found out even the great Djokovic has a limit. He took on too much there doing singles matches and then doubles matches the next day. He said he had shoulder issues so we shall see where he's at.
BTW, the Monfils vs Rublev match up on Youtube is worth a watch. I really wish Monfils could string it together and make a quarter or semis at some point. Doubtful it will happen but his highlight reel shots could really lift up the sport.

Saw on Racket Magazine they are going to do a night at the bar with Nick Kyrgios. Didn’t see the location but if it’s in Manhattan I gotta make it to this.

I almost have no excuse. $50 for entry which includes open bar and snacks. Only kicker is it’s deep in Brooklyn which would add two hours of travel time too and from the event via trains.
