Tons of great memories from State.

Old roommate lives in CA. We talk a couple times a week and laugh recalling the years. He made an awesome collage of clipped articles from the State News/LSJ chronicling the '79 title run. Pasted them to a piece of plywood and burned the edges summer after sophomore year. Shellacked the thing and brought it back for junior year at our place in Cedar Village. It was fucking beautiful and a centerpiece in the apartment. Somewhere in his travels years ago he decided to throw it out. Still give him shit about tossing it.

My best/worst memory was catching my Big Ten flag-carrying (Purdue) girlfriend giving Morten Andersen a back rub in his room on 4 W. Holden. Have not talked with her in 35 years but Andersen is in the pro football HOF lol!

Heard rumors but decided to see if it was true. Unscrewed the medicine cabinet in the bathroom of our suite at Wilson and took it out. Crawled in. You could climb from floor to floor through openings in the concrete behind the walls. Knew the chicks in the room above us. Freaked the hell out them knocking on the back of their medicine cabinet then looking at them through the razor blade slot.

Found out you could do it at Holden too.

I'm certain all that fun has been since remodeled to not allow anymore.

I've heard, but cannot confirm, that me and two of my buddies were the first ever freshman to be put on probation at Ferris before the school year even started.

Had a couple problems with dorm windows sophomore year. Decided MSU was buying cheap glass.

1) Was at a party at Holden in one of the first floor common rooms. Was getting warm so went to open a window next to our table. Was one of those tilt outs. Released both latches and pushed it out. Thing exploded.

2) Went out front of W Wilson to toss the football with a floormate early spring term. Couple other 5th floor mates (including my CA friend) noticed and fully opened their window. Coaxed us into throwing the ball up to them. Went back and forth, a number throws up and down. Was less than 15 feet from the building wall and fired the ball back up. Instantly knew it was off-target but couldn't believe when the window broke in the room next door. From that throwing angle, the ball should have just skipped off. Still remember the guy in that room looking out wondering WTF just happened.

Only got worse from there. Forget what the title is but the woman in charge of the entire dorm had just pulled into the parking lot and saw me do it. Marched up to me, grabbed me by the arm and led me to her office. It was humiliating but I was as busted as the window. Only later did I find out my friend and other floor mate had ducked away from the window after seeing me escorted away and were laughing their asses off.
