Thomas Kithier
I know, the thread title should be more creative. But damn this kid has been a big surprise and is contributing as a true freshman. I sure as hell didn't see it coming.Dare I say he may be more important than Loyer in the next 3 years.

Every time he comes into the game he does something positive. Really kind of shocking considering he missed a full year of playing basketball.

I could see him giving us 10-15 minutes next year. Not as good a defender as Goins, but better on offense.

Izzo loves guys who climb on the court for loose basketballs. That alone will get him minutes.

Bingham showed us a pretty decent shot early on and at his height how do you guard that? I've watched him closely when he's on the floor and he gets man handled under the glass. It will be interesting to see where he's at in a year after he puts on some more weight. I was skeptical of this freshman class early on but I was wrong. Each and every player is very like able and it's been fun to watch each one progress.

Agree on all fronts. I thought early on Bingham had the most upside (athletic, can shoot the 3, can pass) but has looked completely out of place in scrub minutes.

Izzo said in the post game that playing Kithier was not part of the plan. Foul trouble kinda forced his hand. He also mentioned that both Kithier and Bingham have done really well in practice on the scout team. Playing against Ward, Tillman and Goins every day has made them both better.

Duffy what's your take on the team so far? How come our offense is improved?

For one thing they aren't standing around on offense waiting for Miles to take over.
Goins has been huge. Ward has finally learned not to panic on double teams.
And Cash has taken his game to another level. He really is playing like the best PG in the country.

Yeah, that is true. Last year when Miles got the ball it was like all movement stopped. What about the subtraction of Nairn?

True. Seems to be a better team without Miles and JJJ.

Yeah, the lottery picks were the issue not the plan d point guard that wasn’t an offensive threat from 3 feet and didn’t know how to distribute

While Tum obviously didn't pan out, let's stop acting like he was not a decent recruit. He was a 4* on rivals and had offers from IU, Oklahoma and Minnesota.
I mean, I know he was no where near the player you are but stop with the revisionist history.

Is the offense better without Miles? Was he plan A?

Oh. But, it's OK to discuss Tum Tum as Plan D...
That doesn't seem fair.

IIRC, Tum was recruited after another kid chose Duke. I'm not sure if 3 others were missed on before he signed.

Yep. Always in the right spot and doesn't give ground easily. Put some man weight on him and he could be a really good defender.
