Disappointed he’s gone, but LDJ couldn’t even win the #1 back spot, even with the previous #1 transferring out. So how is it the offense is what might be responsible for him not making it to the next level.

So sensitive. The offense sucks because of the players and the system. Even though I’d argue more of the system considering it’s not just a year or two it’s kinda the expectation at this point. We have had different players.
Been broken for years. Why not transfer and see if ya can hit the jackpot in a different program. Look at cousins. He hit the jackpot during our golden years and is getting paid for it. Maybe that can happen for someone who goes elsewhere.

How would LDJ, who can't see the field at MSU in their "shitty offense", be more likely to make the next level at a school with a non-shitty offense (with likely more/better playmakers ahead of him)?
He couldn't beat out a RS FR (thank god, s/o Collins), a TB with the worst vision I've ever seen, and some true FR. This is just a weird take overall

He’s got speed. Someone can use it. Surprised we are really debating on whether college systems and coaching can determine/play a factor in how a player does at the next level/is viewed. Seems kinda obvious it plays a part. But hey, who needs depth when we can score 7 against asu and 10 against OSU. Next man up!

We’re just a bit removed from him complaining we have a shit offense in part because of those guys.
See guys, no one wants to play for such a shitty offense, no wonder they are leaving!

What about the “system” is keeping these players from the NFL?
It’s not letting our receivers get separation from the DB’s guarding them? Preventing Jordan Reid from drop stepping and keeping a DE away from his body on pass pro? Did it prevent LeVeon Fowler Langford cousins Conklin lippett from getting to the nfl?
Like Jerry to Kramer, “you don’t even know what a system is”

I think the coaches are getting paid millions to help teach the kids these things, no? As well as recruit players that they believe they can develop.... Isn’t it the coaches system?
Help me out. How is this not the result of a programs offense being broken?

Re: tOfficial 2019 MSU Football Thread - Year 6 of the Brandon Sowards Experience
Hard to really rip our offense vs OSU they were just better than us. I liked some of the ideas we had out there and you could see the potential in some of the drives. QBS and receivers need to get better at making plays on key drives intstead of missing wide open players and or dropping catches. Bottom line though we are coming up short. Also, once we get inside the red zone fucking continue with the creativity. There's some seriously awful play calling in there.

Do we have starters transferring? Or upperclassmen getting jobs taken by youngsters transferring?
When a starter transfers well that’s not great.

2015: Dantonio is so amazing. Coaching. Player development. 3 star u baby. Game management. It’s a miracle what he’s done for this program.
2019: the players that the coaching staff recruits and coaches and call plays for suck and that’s on them.

OTPT, we're all frustrated. It is what it is. Everyone has their own release. Not trying to get in the way of yours. Carry on. Your frustrations are legitimate. Whether consistent or not.

As a former coach I’m surprised the lack of importance you put on coaching for playing development and putting kids in position to succeed. But the fan base is holding onto the glory years and that’s understandable as well, not wanting to admit what’s here in front of our face.
Jefferson at least had speed, Hayward had nothing but a cool name. Showed much more potential in my opinion. It’s too bad the staff couldn’t develop either.

Using this offensive staff’s depth chart/pecking order as your point doesn’t seem logical but whatever ya gotta do

We were talking about your inconsistency regarding Heyward and LDJ. Speaking of stats, have a look at theirs to prove your point.

I liked LDJ more than I ever liked heyward. Not sure what to tell ya bud. How many carries did each get? Would doubt that’s a fair comparison by stats alone.

Gotcha, so stats are only good to look at when it's convenient for your point.Other Teams Pursuing That wrote:MiamiSpartan wrote:

Not enough carries? He had 78 last year, compared to Heyward's 118, and Scott's 79. But maybe he'd get more carries if he could read blocks and had any kind of vision and decisiveness (Heyward didn't either, but LDJ was no better at that). Certainly didn't seem to make any progress in that area this year, and was on the way to being passed by Ant.
You can like who you like, I just can't figure out what you've seen from him to warrant any thinking that the staff is holding him back from NFL potential.

Re: tOfficial 2019 MSU Football Thread - Year 6 of the Brandon Sowards Experience
Here’s what happened and what will continue to happen because of the transfer portal: when upperclassmen get passed by freshmen on the depth chart they will leave. It’s a new world out there. I don’t know if that’s why they created it, but that’s what’s going to happen. I thought of it as helping great talents like Justin fields and Jake Fromm. Stuck on the same team it’s a shame that they’d have to sit one.
These two transferring is not that big of a deal. Good kids, good luck to them. Two freshmen passed them. It’s just business.

Thinking of possible transfers out of college had the portal been there before
Football: Brady
Basketball: Bill Walton
Hey for us it might have been Maxwell and maybe that would have helped the 13 season.

Re: tOfficial 2019 MSU Football Thread - Year 6 of the Brandon Sowards Experience
Question about the transfer portal. If you put yourself into the portal but don't like the schools that want to take you, or no one wants you, can you stay at the school you're currently at? Or once you decide to transfer, that is it and you can't go back?
IE - What if both players say they want to go to the portal, but it is only schools like MTSU, or NDSU or UM that want you, can you say fuck that, I'll stay at MSU?

Pretty sure they can come back, if the team wants them back.
Let's test it out and put tGreenway in there and see if another board wants him.
