At this point, I have such low expectations for the BOT as long as they don't pick Turd Ferguson or someone currently at MSU then I think they've done at least an average job. They really need someone with an outside perspective, but that might be hoping for too much.

Look, I don't know that I would be politically correct in doing shit if I was BOT member. I'd probably insult people because of my ignorance. But When I read the "top secret" part of this headline, I immediately read that to the wife sitting at our morning coffee table, and she said "idiots". I only say this because it kind of struck me as dumb also. It's just a first reaction, and here's why: After all the shit, after all the "death by 1000 cuts" drama weekly, you'd think they'd be more open to having full open forums on this. Am I wrong in thinking that?

I can see why the BOT likes him. Experience running a university, research orientated, medical feild, fund raiser, etc

But I don't think this is going to go over very well.

I was at MSU when Dibiaggio came in. I liked him, but he became at odds with the BOT (which was the core of the entire Perles issue). I harbor more of a lack of confidence in the BOT.

This guy sounds good, but I really think it's a crap shoot that has less to do with the quality of the individual than the time, circumstance and events during the tenure.

Not at all. Everything else is pomp and kerfluffery... Although I would add "Get my kid a job after graduation" to the list.

Listened to his speech at the BOT meeting. Short and to the point. Touched on why MSU, its research and addressed the elephant in the room. Talked about transparency and listening to the survivors, etc.

They also had reps from search committee from the faculty, students, staff, deans and alumni. This wasn't done is a vacuum.
