California, how's it going?

I've been seeing more reports like these. This is from Harvard business publishing (a source I really know nothing about). How do they turn this around?

"When Leilani Farha paid a visit to San Francisco in January, she knew the grim reputation of the city’s homeless encampments. In her four years as the United Nations Special Rapporteur for Adequate Housing, Farha has visited the slums of Mumbai, Delhi, Mexico City, Jarkarta, and Manila. The crisis in San Francisco, she said, is comparable to these conditions."

I know people out there that live in their vans or rv's. The cost of living is out of control.

Nobody wants to pay for anything, and corporations threaten to leave or build somewhere else without obscene tax breaks. Look at our roads and highways in Michigan. Inexcusably terrible condition. Connies had both chambers and the governor’s office and still didn’t do anything because they refuse to boost taxes.

Quite a ridiculous comparison. Have you seen Slumdog Millionaire?

According to this, there are about 114,000 homeless people in ALL of California. An embarrassing stat for sure for the supposed "richest country in history", but...

60% of Mumbai's 20 million people live in slums. Not American type slums like on the South side of Chicago or East St. Louis, but real slums. Your family sleeps on the floor of a 10 square foot shanty with a corrugated metal roof and no plumbing...if you're lucky. There is literally shit flowing downhill in the streets.

So lets give the overly dramatic comparisons a rest.
