If you're right, and I hope you are, that likely means the soonest we'll see another stimulus is January. Which they could still do even if they pass a smaller one now.kingstonlake wrote:House: D

Republicans are gonna win twice! Man I thought I was paranoid.

True. I'm guessing this close to the election the last thing shed want is to give him any momentum or the ability to change the narrative away from covid or his failings. It's scummy but it's politics after all.

Um, how is the Nancy's fault? Moscow Mitch has been pretty clear he won't even vote on a bill with checks to the commoners. So you either do nothing & continue to throw blame around or you try to get something, anything, done that can pass both houses.

Re: Can we talk about Nancy?
Not solely her fault, but she wouldn't even consider the 1.8 trillion Mnuchin was offering, and now we'll be lucky to get 908 billion. We all assume McConnell wouldn't pass anything, but that doesn't give Nancy a pass for not even forcing him to be the one to say no. The 908 billion isn't even something she's driving, it's being pushed by others who see that if they wait for Nancy to do it, it won't get done.Heat Miser wrote:Cameron wrote:

Moscow Mitch doesn't say no. He just never brings the bill to the Senate. There is never a vote on it. I think there is a stimulus package that the house passed back in May or June that is still sitting on his desk. He doesn't get any of the blame, or he gets all of the blame and the Republican's get a pass and don't have to be official on it. They can say tehy don't like it and there is nothing they can do, but they get to hide behind Mitch and the fucking backwards racist population of KY.

Mitch can sit on anything the house sends him and not feel heat, but if it was something negotiated by the White House that has Trump's approval, it gets a lot more complicated for Mitch.

Re: Can we talk about Nancy?
I've seen AOC outline it very well the exact challenge that the republican controlled senate is putting up blocking the stimulus package. This isn't on Pelosi. Hopefully the dems can win the Georgia senate race to end McConnel's reign of terror.

Re: Can we talk about Nancy?
IMO Speaker Pelosi is first and foremost a vote counter and whip.
She knows her members and knows that a vote in the hand, such as the vote to move forward on both Infrastructure Bills yesterday, even with the "promise" to take up the Bipartisan one in late September, is better than having the House stalled without a vote.

I saw her get a lot of praise yesterday for the work on the infrastructure bill. I avoid most of the YT talking pundits as I find most of them to be toxic. I'm a printed press guy.

She still has to push the ball over the goal line. Let’s not start sucking her dick yet.
But she is a shrewd negotiator.

Good point! She has more balls than a certain ex-President IMO.
