thread for Marijuana novices

Hi long time listener... new to the marijuana game. Messed around with it at MSU 30 years ago... Never did it enough to have my own dealer, just mooched the roomates... so even then, a novice at best.

Got some "legal" weed recently and tried it out. Had a couple beers, went to dinner, came home and had bowl... So, is it normal to see all stars and have your hearing become all muffled now-a-days? I swear I was going to pass out, like to a concerning level. Prior to keeling over, I just kind of laid around for an hour or two until I was just high. Is that what they are talking about when they say the stuff these days is super potent? I really didn't even have that much.

Please walk me through this process in a safe space, I would really like to just get a "little" stoned occasionally, TIA.

No question today's weed is super potent. TBH, I don't even enjoy it much anymore for the same reasons you described.

Marijuana is a very strong drug. I know a lot of people can enjoy it as easily as a cup of coffee but not me. Also, it’s legal in Massachusetts and on our family vacations there’s a lot of recreational use and it’s kid of a drag. You can tell people are out of it and kind of in their own world.

I got my card 2+ years ago and don't regret it. Before that I really hadn't done it since college. Just didn't like it.

Gummies are the only way to go IMO. Way easier to control once you have experience with it. Smoking it is too intense and inconsistent (which leads to over doing it) for me. Then you are an omeba for an hour+. Plus who wants to burn their lungs up anymore? Even if it is vaping. Gummies are just way more convenient.

Once you dial in an edible dose that works best for you ...lather, rinse and repeat. Edibles effect everyone different, so start low. Try 5mg the first time. Step up by 5mg increments each time till you find the right level. DONT reload till you know your level. It takes 45+mins to kick in and can last 3+hours. Plan accordingly. If you go hard out of the gate or reload because you think it didn't work you'll be in for a ride.

Weird one hit would lay a person out now a days. The days of cheech and chong passing around the fatties is gone apparently. I had a buddy in high school that smoked it like normal cigarettes. After school, before work, lunch break... like 6-8 times a day. No longer possible apparently.

Thinking gummies will be the way to go... now, just waiting for availability in MI.

Edibles are a different high, in my opinion, but good to build some
tolerance and control the dose.

My bad. My honest advice is either buy a one hitter, or use more frequently to build a bit of a tolerance. If you have access to the same edibles regularly, that's another way to go, but I would advise some measure of caution trying new brands. Even if they purport to contain the same mgs, I have experienced varying consistency and potency between different "manufacturers."

Definitely. I usually get a 4+ month supply each time and rarely do they have the same thing you got last time. I don't take a heavy dose (10mg), but still proceed with caution out of the box and tweek as needed. Though I will say it has gotten much better/more consistent the last year. If you're someone that wants/needs a heavy dose (50-100mg) it is probably more of an issue.

Man, it’s just nothing I would ever go back to doing. I get that it’s the perfect type of chill for some people. I’d say 80% of my inner circle was on the regular with the stuff. The only way I could smoke was in a super controlled environment. Zero potential for hitting the bar or going out in public was the only way I could. I did have some really cool sessions once in a while. Me and my buddy Greg use to gel perfectly when it was just us two. One night I got stoned before hockey and it was a mess. One shift and I took my gear off and waited to come down in the dressing room lol.

Never smoked much pot. Never bought it.

Had my son over for dinner a few weeks ago. He brought me some presents. An MSU green-ish pipe, about a quarter ounce, and this grinder...neat gadget.

Except for one extremely bad experience, pot didn't affect me much back in HS and college. Didn't seem worth smoking. Today's pot is different and definitely has my attention. One or two hits is all I want, and only on weekends. This 1/4 oz might last me 3-4 months.
