Everything is low right now. Still more downside coming though. Keep your powder dry for now.

Definitely. I just want to do my research before it’s time to pull the trigger.

I bought SDS and have recovered a lot of losses. It's an inverse etf on the S&P. INO was a good small bet and I've written covered calls on it. I agree with Heat wait it out. The worst is still to come.

If Wisconsin gets hit hard, I might be able to own some Packer stock.

Anyone see an opportunity in travel related stocks? Cruise lines down 1/3 today alone, airlines hammered. 6 months out are things back to normal?
Of course, I wouldn't touch anything prior to Monday, at least.
Amazon at 52 week lows, too.

BTW, I've been an on & off stockholder of Neogen (NEOG) for almost 20 years. They make tests for food and animal safety (think of a test that detects 1 part per million of salmonella in a warehouse of grain in a few hours). Bonus: they are based in Lansing, MI.

I had a few hundred in dividends and although I do think it's going to crash further, picked up another AAPL then used the rest on PSQ
Will hold off on rest of IRA deposit for a bit

Princess just suspended all cruises for 2 months. They are a Carnival subsidiary. Boeing is freezing hiring & OT amid cash flow concerns.
Companies with weak balance sheets may not survive this. Also, I think the timeline is more than 6 months. Recessions don't just end when what caused them ends. There's a lag.
Warren Buffet will make a killing when the time is right with his $100+ billion in cash just waiting for a bargain.

Live Nation pauses ALL tours.
The ripple effect on all this is very scary from an economic perspective. The people employed by all these industries are now out of work. Unemployment & unemployment claims spike. Disposable income plummets. People stop spending on everything but the necessities. Debt increases. Small businesses don't have the resources to survive such a sudden decline in revenue.
Recession snowballs, even after things return to normal.

I wanted to buy Neogen when it was a penny stock but I was back in school and just a poor student. Then wanted to buy it again when it was about $2.20, but I was in a job getting excellent experience but not a lot of money, and Mrs. GW was in grad school. It got to almost $80 over the past year, but now below $60. I think it’s a good buy. Actually, kind of surprised it hasn’t been purchased by something bigger.

I just changed my 401 to conservative from aggressive/moderate. I'll go back in a couple of months.
With the tax cuts I don't see how the US pays for all of this, and there has to be a tax increase coming within the next year. Trump can't go to court and ask for bankruptcy laws to protect him here. We're all fucked.

I have not read this yet, so I can’t say if it’s good advice or not. It’s just something that was in my google news feed. TIFWIW.

I agree about the irony here, the trade offs between potentially losing a good chunk of the airline industry vs letting the markets sort it out...I'm sure the money will ultimately flow much more freely than it should...
Also, another interesting wrinkle is this:
Boeing made their bed with the Max, but will they go under without a bail out?Boeing shares rose 3.6% to $134 pre-market Tuesday in New York. The stock dropped 60% this year through Monday’s close of trading.

Who else gets a handout? The cruise lines? Hotels? Every small business in the country? Every person with a tanking 401k balance? Where do we draw the line? Companies like Apple, Microsoft, etc. are smart & keep significant cash exactly for reasons like this. Why should they be left out of the handouts?
Funny how we can't do universal healthcare, but we can bail out big business whenever their own mismanagement puts them in jeopardy.

I don't disagree, any govt help should be a loan and should come with some pain, otherwise no one is 'too big to fail' just no politicians have the spine to deal with the ramifications of the sorting out process that will follow....

No govt. handouts (that includes tax breaks). Period. Loans? Sure. The Fed just cut rates to zero. Have at it.

This is also a great example of why you don't give a trillion & a half dollars to corporations and rich people. Keep what little powder you have dry because you never know when or where the next trillion dollar crisis will come from.
