Re: 2020 NFL Draft
Meh. Most important position on a team is quarterback. Which team will have that position covers best for the next two years? I would have said New Orleans until the off season. Packer fans were stunned when they wasted a pick on Rodgers. We forget that. He was booed on the practice field for two years. They got their offensive tackle from the lions they wanted a very good tight end from the jags and Funches at receiver. They picked up Kirksey at LB from Cleveland they couldn’t leave Love sitting there. It was a good gamble. They’ll always be drafting mid to upper 20’s. You need a QB when you can get one. I know their last two WR’s in the first rounds were duds.

This is pretty cool, nice to see with technology small studios can under cut the mothership. Would be great if could get small time shows like this to announce games with talent better than Dan Dakich. We'd just have the game on muted and then pump the audio through our sound system.

So I had some mexican food and curbside margaritas last night and was pretty lit. After reviewing our pick and the story around this kid I think he's a quality individual. He's smart, he's talented, they highlighted his family....Even thought I have my usual Lions dread I'm hoping this kid ends up being a huge success and leads a dominant D in Detroit.

Yeah, I'm a biased ESPN hater but you are correct. They did a pretty good job last night.

I wanted a good tackle. Either offense or defense. Not as worried about skill positions. If the quarterback is the most important position on a team and you had to rank the strength of that position by team, I think it’s a decent pick. Who knows though. Like I said Rodgers was booed for two years. Many people don’t like it.
Did any of you guys want Tua? Why?

Just turned on ESPN. Last year Rodgers got McCarthy fired. He was a horrible person that demanded too much he dominated the new relationship between him and the new coaches and that was horrible. Today? Green Bay is disrespectful towards him. Steven A is sick of Green Bay disrespecting him.

I did. To your point QB is the most important position and he seemed like he'd be perfect to take over for Stafford. That being said who am I kidding? The only hope is a new owner, gm and coach.

Would have been cool with Tua
-Lions suck top to bottom. They need everything and aren't close to competing for Super Bowl so sitting a guy 1/2 years changes nothing
-Tua been a "generational talent" and possible top pick for the last couple years, worth taking a shot
-Stafford has maybe a couple years left + bad back + lions offensive line protecting him so who knows if he'll make it that long...can squeeze 1 more year out of him at least

My answer is, why not. I like Stafford and I don't think Tau is a sure thing by any stretch. But it is time to blow it up and try again. You had a chance to take a shot downfield. I would of taken it.
Obviously Quintricia are more focused on win now. Which is fine, but Okudah better be the real deal. If you take a shot at a QB, DE or another every play difference maker and he's a bust? I'm cool with it. Not on a CB. The return is not as high, so the risk better be lower.

Get your quarterback if you can. Packers did. Lions passed on Herbert Tua and Love. They must think they’re good there. I think in five years one of those three are going to be good in this league. Maybe re-evaluate the draft then.
Packers had no answers for the 49’ers offense. Let’s see what they do the rest of the way with Trades and picks.

I’m glad they didn’t pick tua. If it were next year and it were Trevor Lawrence yeah I’d be all about that but I don’t think tua and his injuries is the guy to get rid of stafford for

I hear Rodgers is very pissed off today. Not that they took Love but that they didn’t consult him.
Hmmmm. Sounds clusterfuckish to me. 1. He went through it and should be more gracious. 2. Your best player is pissed. 3. Who the fuck does he think he is that “they should consult “ him?
Sounds like a trade will happen next year when Tampa can’t make Brady work but they’ll have a Rodgers with two years left on the tires.

If I'm a Packers fan, my only positive spin is it might fire up Rodgers to play better to say "f you" to the suits

I’m a packers fan and I liked the Rodgers pick when all my friends hated it and I like this pick when all my friends hat it.
Sometimes you have to pick for the franchise and not the next season. That’s just how I feel. Find one packer fan that still says picking Rodgers when you had Favre was a bad pick. But listen to boos during practice and exhibitions when he went in.

Re: 2020 NFL Draft
The other side of that is Rodgers was thought of as a top pick that spiraled down the draft and was a steal in the 20s, whereas Love was the #4 qb and went around/higher than most thought

Re: 2020 NFL Draft
Worst part to me is giving up a fourth rounder to jump a bunch of teams that weren't going to take a QB there anyway. I think Love would have been there at 30 for them.
I'm down on the pick, not because I'm down on Love, but because they wasted a chance to snag an impact WR or a defensive starter, and Rodgers's window won't be open that much longer. Trading up to draft a player in the first round who won't see the field for 2-3 years minimum is not smart drafting in my eyes.

I like stuff like this. None of us know. This is from the 2016 draft, regraded in 2019. First grade is given when it happened second is given after 2019.
regrade the draft three years later

If all goes well, Love still won't have played 3 years from now on those regrades
They had to do it though; Rodgers was way too much value to pass up at No. 24 overall

Or, he plays in two years and the Packers get a crap load for Rodgers two years from now. Who knows. We'll regrade later. I'm still very happy they got love. Kid was killing us a couple of years ago.

Do you guys think the lions should have taken one of the three QB’s and have that in their pocket knowing that the chargers wanted Herbert and the Dolphins Tua and called one up and said take our corner, we’ll give you Tua/Herbert for our corner and a third round? If both said no, who cares. You got Tua/Herbert.

I could get behind Tua since he's injured and easier to say to your team/fans that he's sitting for a couple years stashed away for the future

Re: 2020 NFL Draft
These are the questions I put together for a $20 pool with a couple of friends for tonight.
Will the Lions take an O or D player with pick 35?
Will we see any pets on the screen tonight?
Jalen Hurts O/U pick 52.5?
JK Dobbins O/U pick 49.5?
Total QBs taken in Rds 2 and 3 O/U 3.5
Will MSU player get taken by end of 3rd?
Jonathan Taylor O/U pick 55.5?
KJ Hamler by end of 3rd?
Who will be drafted first, Dobbins or J Taylor?
Will there be more Offensive or Defensive players drafted on Day 2?
ND or Penn State player taken first?
Will Donovan Peoples Jones get taken by end of 3rd?
Will we see both Jake Fromm and Michael Pittman Jrs mothers on TV assuming both get taken by end 3rd?
Taken first Zack Moss (Utah RB) or Laviska Shenault (Col WR)?
Tiebreaker - combined college jersey numbers of all Lions taken in rd 2 and 3

The same thing I would have done yesterday
But today would be more of a waste than taking a shot a Tua since there's so many holes to fill and less potential for crazy upside at a position that won't play for a year or two.
I do think Stafford has less time with the Lions than Rodgers with GB - so they def need to start looking to fill that spot #tankfortrevor
