Subway bread isn’t bread.
I guess it’s like a donut. Court rules subway bread is a confection because of sugar content.

Too much sugar? The judges ought to try real sweetbreads.

It’s weird that something so sugary could taste so cardboard-y
Actually, is that a lot of sugar? I have no frame of reference.

Always have questioned if some of Subway’s cold cuts were meat but the bread was surprising.

Re: Subway bread isn’t bread.
Not really. Most breads you might bake would have a sugar content somewhere around 5-10% of the weight of the flour most likely closer to 5% but 10% would not be overly sweet or unusual. 2% of the weight of the flour would be unusually low but you might find that in some traditional French or Italian bread, some of which contain no sugar (or honey, etc.). I would suspect that most bread you would buy at a grocery store in the US would be at least 10%. Challah bread would typically be over the 10% mark.Rocinante wrote:It’s weird that something so sugary could taste so cardboard-y

For reference - a cake would have a sugar content well over 50% of the weight of the flour.

This news really threw me for a loop, so I started looking further into the company, and I was shocked. Did you guys know Subway isn’t even a real subway? It’s not even in a subway.
Not a real subway + not real bread = totally false advertising.

Haven't Subway in a few years. I don't like GMOs and I don't like indigestion.

Could you give us a taste of what those links say? I’d hate to visit those sites and have all my porn ads overrun by other, less offensive ads from their cookies.

Seedless watermelons suck. Needs a few more years of modifying to get right. IMO if you were to pick 10 seedless and 10 natty watermelon you'd get: ~3 good seedless and ~7 good seeded

Re: Subway bread isn’t bread.
Never liked Subway. Consider them one of the worst at "fast food". Not only is the food bad but slow as hell even if you're the only customer in the store. Haven't been there in probably 6-8 years.Turtleneck wrote:Pantry, can we get a ruling?
The amount of sugar in fast food breads isn't surprising. The amount of salt in fast food breads isn't either. Got offered a Jimmy Johns box lunch today and turned it down. Haven't been to Jimmy Johns in a few years because I find their sub rolls overly salty. Refined sugar sucks. Refined salt is much worse.

Not a fan of watermelon, regardless of seeded or non. The only watermelon flavor I like is Jolly Rancher.

Haven't tried it yet. Been happily using Celtic sea salt over 20 years.tGreenWay wrote:The Pantry wrote:Never liked Subway. Consider them one of the worst at "fast food". The BBQ forum I'm on has been discussing salt for years. Some don't believe it, but there is a taste difference. Trying to get them to do a blind salt taste test at their next smoking bash.

Woman claims Subway sandwich wrapper was smeared with feces; company says it was simply chocolate
"I go to take a bite (at home), and I smell the exact same (expletive), look in the papers in between the two wrappers on the sandwich ... is literal (excrement)," Coyne said in the video. "We're not sure if it's dog or human (feces) right now."
In an email Tuesday, a Subway spokesperson who declined to be named said the Ingham County Health Department released an inspection report on Monday that concluded the brown residue was chocolate from a cookie.
