They've been singing it with line of blue since MD's first year, and with "weak" for longer than that (whenever it became common for students). Or are you just surprised that Mel didn't make them change it?

I didn’t know the team has been using Line of blue, although, IIRC, that’s the original line, isn’t it? As for Weeeeeak, I though that was just a student section modification. I didn’t know the team sang it that way, too.

Yeah, line of blue was in the original, and MD had them start singing it in the locker room as part of his way to embrace and emphasize the rivalry with UM (including after non-UM games).
