Online sportsbetting/gambling to be legalized "within days" in MI

I find it weird that the ratio of online gambling TV ads in Michigan to gambling problem/help TV ads is about infinity to 1. But I'm guessing all the help ads run at 3:37am when no one sees them.

You'd think that legislators would have made sure the ratio was a little more balanced no matter what TV day part is. Yes, I'm a cynic on this one.

I find it a bit annoying that some of the Michigan sports writers tweet out and write about the gambling lines now. I have no interest in it and there’s no responsibility messaging.

I think responsible use and messaging is something we both can agree on.

We wouldn't want tweets about gambling. People might get hooked on the dopamine hits without even knowing, and keep coming back like a brainless zombie over and over and over.

And the gambling can be addictive, too.

Not lecturing anybody but I don't understand that line of thinking. It's akin to Michigan banning scotch because someone can become an alcoholic. You can still get vodka or gin or beer or tequila here, but not scotch. Hell you can go 20 minutes South to Canada or to Indiana and get all the scotch you want. But it's illegal here because someone who isn't already an alcoholic may one day pick up a bottle of scotch and decide to drink it and then not be able to stop.

We all knew this was coming. My daily average on twitter according to my phone user data is around 23 minutes a day. I bet that's all during the morning when I first wake up and I bet that counts the articles I read that are linked to twitter.

My only point is that when casinos in Michigan opened, the rule was that they had to fund a certain amount of gambling help hotline ads, and I don't see a proportionate increase in those after online gambling ads started.

I'm actually more pissed about the amount of online gambling ads I have to watch than not seeing more help ads.  I mean they're all over. It's now (1) online gambling (2) Bernstein/Feiger/Feminineo/Morse (3) Gardner White lol

Fair Floyd. Though I wish they would take those funds and put them towards education rather than gambling help ads. I doubt problem gamblers are waking up and hearing an ad on the radio and deciding it's time to quit.

Think of all those lives saved by anti drinking and driving laws and educations. On this flip side this stuff also can be effective and make a difference.

Also, it warms my heart to see some of you outline the exact reasons why I think advertising is a bunch of BS.

A newer betting app I signed up for is called pointsbet .

I signed up on their promo, deposit $30, get a $300 free bet. After depositing, and waiting 24 hrs, I still didn't get my free bet. I reached out to customer service, and they didn't know what I was talking about. And asked me to find jt and send a pic. Sure enough, I couldn't find it. There was a similar one, but not as good. They couldn't help me. But signing in and out again, and the $300 free bet showed up. Must have just been a delay. And I'm pretty sure that promo was a mistake.

Anyway, I did a 4 leg parlay. 3 were very expected moneyline, and my 4th was Bama +19.5 spread.
I won $451. I was pretty excited. They also had some gimme bets.

Interesting to know what mandatory payout % is. And do Physical casinos get to back out expenses first.

I know they’re regulated but that doesn’t stop me from getting pissed af when I lose an entire bonus worth of blackjack that’s supposed to be 99.5% payout

Almost got sucked into live poker via an MGM "free" offer couple weeks ago. Managed to get out of it. I like poker but not willing to invest the time or money for that commitment.

I don't trust online blackjack or slots. I don't like the idea of the "controller" of the program gets my money when the program beats me. At least when I lose money on sports, I know the casino didn't write the code that produced the outcome.
