While I really don’t have an opinion one way or another, it does seem like golf lacks any need for actual strategy, aside from put the ball in the cup and the one with the fewest strokes wins. Or am I forgetting something? That’s an honest question.

When I think of the biggest, most popular, and competitive sports, they all seem to have game by game strategies intended to win the games/matches. I’m not trying to denigrate golf because I’ve always enjoyed it, even though I was never very good. I stopped playing first because I was in school and couldn’t afford it. Then, by the time I had extra cash to spend, rounds were in hurry up mode instead of the leisurely-paced afternoons I’d known with my grandpa and uncle. Twenty years ago, Tim Staudt bitched on the radio about slow-pokes like me, as if time on the course should be minimized like a player’s number of strokes. I hurry through things I don’t enjoy, not those moments I like. It took all of the fun out of it.
