California Recall election Sept 14

Years ago I bought a book by British Historian James Burke called Connections.  It had also been a PBS series on how an event changes what seem to be unrelated outcomes.  For example the US revolution took away England’s supply of pine tar that forced them to create a substitute from coal to coat the bottoms of their wooden ships.

I think we are seeing something similar in the upcoming recall of CA Gov  Newsome.  As the recall petition process started right wing radio talk host Larry Elder got support from conservative donors and looked to be gaining traction.  Even “dirt” pulled up from bankruptcies and “errors” in reporting income didn’t matter.

But then Texas pushed through the abortion ban and the SCOTUS let it stand.  Meanwhile in FL their Gov is defying everyone on vaccines and masks.  All this started happening and in the last  30 days Newsome has gone from dead heat of being recalled to being up by 12 points.  All while most of those challenging him have been parroting the talking points heard in Texas and Florida

I understand Newsome has a lot of money for this and has been spending more freely as the voting has started.

That said there are parts of the voting base who are no paying attention.

prediction: Republicans will whine about voter fraud, voter irregularities, they will not accept the result of the election, whatever it may be.

So Newsom wins big.. the candidate backed by the racist, bigoted christian sexual predator will likely spend the next few weeks whining before he'll hopefully crawl back under whatever rock they found him under.

Looks like Republican Larry Elder will have to assault women, call them ugly, and tell them they’re dumb via his radio show and not the California governors mansion.

the degree of disconnect the mainstream media has with every day, regular Americans is simply mind-boggling.. not to mention, the level of disconnect they have what what it means to be an "American". I would be embarrassed to be used as a tool for the right the way these people are.

If I was a pundit the hot take from me would be something along the lines of Larry Elder thinking he could run a MAGA agenda, hateful platform towards women and be pro-pandemic/anti science in California is pure buffoonery. Maybe he'd have better success in Arkansas or Texas.

Also, if I was covering that Alabama senate race Doug Jones vs Roy Moore, my analysis would be call me crazy but it was a bad idea to run a pedophile even in Alabama. Steve Bannon is one of the biggest idiots in politics to come up with a losing strategy in Alabama.

well, they're gonna whine about 'rigged elections' no matter what. Whining and playing the victim is truly all Republicans have.

I think what they risk is numbing the public to their lies. Sure, it'll rile up the racist knuckle-scrapers with an IQ of lukewarm dishwater, but that is a loud minority.

until the Democrats do something about protecting voting rights and the most basic fundamentals enshrined in our Constitution, democracy is dangling by a very thin thread.

which is pretty funny.. I honestly think the reason Democrats took the Senate via the Georgia run-off was because the racist, bigoted christian sexual predator kept whining about how unfair the election was, that it was rigged, etc - so all of his racist, bigoted christian fans said "fuck it.. it's rigged, anyway" and stayed home for the run-off.....
