Let’s say we’re in overtime….
We’ve stopped them and they missed their field goal. All we have to do is run three plays kick ours and win. On the second handoff, we fumble. They scoop and are running down the field on our sideline they can walk in. Somebody comes off our bench and tackles him.
What’s the penalty?
What’s the penalty?

I don't know, but a penalty like the one called on Saturday night (on Martinez) should have been enforced on our offensive possession.
Looked it up...
Rule 5. Section 1. Article 4: If a substitute enters the field of play or the end zone while the ball is in play, it is an illegal substitution. If an illegal substitute interferes with the play, it may be a palpably unfair act (see 12-3-3).
Rule 12. Section 4. Article 3: Palpably Unfair Act. A player or substitute shall not interfere with play by any act which is palpably unfair.
Penalty: For a palpably unfair act: Offender may be disqualified. The Referee, after consulting his crew, enforces any such distance penalty as they consider equitable and irrespective of any other specified code penalty. The Referee may award a score.

Yeah that’s fair. I too, think we should have got the ball on the 12 1/2.
And in my scenario, if the official and crew has the power to award the TD, they also have the power not to. Can you imagine?

Why didn't we kick on 1st or 2nd down once we got to the 2 yard line in OT?

The offended team gets to choose one player to stick a finger in the offender’s butt.

I don't think we have anybody who looks like this on the sidelines who can pull it off.

Question. If you stop the offense with no points in overtime. On your offensive possession, Can you line up for a field goal on first down, run a fake, and if it fails, is it second down?

Let’s say you’re on your own one yard line. 1 minute left. Up by two. Can you run 14 guys out there on offense and keep running off tackle a d picking up 7 yards. You take 7 seconds off the clock each play. You know it’s a penalty, it’s called every play. You don’t give a shit. Next play you have 15 guys out there. You pick up your six or seven yards run time off the clock and getting it brought back half the distance to the goal.
Do refs declare unfair act?

Re: Let’s say we’re in overtime….
Ok, here's one if we are talking about using too many men penalties to your advantage....
Game is in its last minute. You're driving for a TD. Defense puts an extra man on the field in the secondary. You get sacked, a couple of seconds pass and you call a time out. The refs flag the 12 men penalty.
What happens? Well, let's say the refs mistakenly enforce the penalty against the defense from the result of the play, meaning the offense loses a down, loses yardage, loses 3-4 seconds, and loses a precious timeout. If that's the case, put 20 men out on defense. Seems pretty far fetched that somehow, out of all of the various officials on the field, none of them see that there is anything wrong with this.
And THEN what happens? Well, let's imagine that the media and the fans of that opposing team, the team that benefited from all 4 of those wrong ways to enforce a single penalty, ignore all of that and instead spend decades whining because they think the clock stopped too quickly a few plays later when the QB spiked the ball with :01 left on the clock, and then won the game on the last play.
But nah, that's too absurd to happen in real life.

Half the distance isn't from where the ball ended up after a 6-7 yard gain. It would be from the 1 to the 1/2 yard line...then the 1/4 yard line. Seems kind of risky if you're up by 2 to do that.

If I correctly remember, Berry turned MSU down when they refused to give him a slush fund.
