In followup to missing out on a huge investment from Ford, Toyota will be putting its money in NC. Where has the governor been anyway? For the first 3 years of her administration she was a media darling, now she seems MIA.

Not to put too fine a point on this, but the Governor has been somewhat preoccupied dealing with a different public health crisis. However, Joe Biden's infrastructure bills include funding to replace lead water pipes.

Governor Whitmer spend most of her first two years in office preening before TV cameras and appearing on national TV shows.   In-between those appearances she was traveling to Florida in violation of her own public health departments recommendations and trying to get her dock installed up north while telling the rest of us to stay home.

Agreed that we haven't heard or seen as much of her on the TeeVee, however part of that is that there are vaccines now so shutdowns are not needed if 100% of the population vaccinates.

Batteries are heavy.  The heaviest component in EV and hybrid vehicles.  Battery production at the manufacturing level is power intensive.  

It makes sense to build the batteries in closer proximity to assembly plants.  Makes business build them in states that have no issue shifting utility costs for low business rates by hiking rates to residential customers.

IMO Ford chose its sites to win favor from power brokers in Congress, all the rest of their talk is to justify the choice to win favor via unrelated and secondary issues.

Politics is the art of the possible.

You are blaming the Governor for given "the people" the choice about vaccinations and "the people" refusing to be vaccinated.  The shutdown orders made sense when the Governor had the power to issue them and there was no real protection available.  Now we have vaccines, and if people would rather die than get vaccinated that is on them.

As people have pointed out, there are "reasons" such as cheaper electricity, supplied by the Federal Government in some States, or the location of mineral deposits.  That and that there are major power brokers in the US Congress in those states are some of the reasons that Michigan was shut out of the process before it started.  The Governor can only do so much if Michigan isn't invited to the table to begin with.

Locating EV plants near the raw materials and where there is cheap electricity (it is supplied by a socialist electric company) provides enough logical defense to also locate some if the plants in the state of one of the more powerful people in the US government.

The State, aka the Governor, is running ads to try to convince people to vaccinate.  Since there are a sigificant number of people who hate women, and women with power, and Democratics, who want to "own the libs" having the Governor in them would be counterproductive.  Not having herself in them, showing it is not about her, is exactly what leadership is.

Why is that so hard for you to understand?  Do you think it is only leadership if it is Trump putting himself out front on every issue, which pissed people off?
