The subsidy benefits Ford’s shareholders and some skilled workers. Ford will probably invite their current workers to retrain for the EV plants. Ford will pay for a significant training program in Texas. Tennesseans who are not now employed in skilled jobs or prepared to invest in significant training will find few opportunities at Ford.

Current businesses and residents will pay for the subsidy and for public services Ford uses. TVA’s customers will pay for Ford’s discount on electricity.

The Tennessee Valley Authority also was part of the negotiations for the Ford project. TVA officials indicated the public utility offered discounted electricity

Based on how he has weaponized the whole thing this does look like an attempt to cash in on being rude to President Biden.
